"Extreme Green" CD and DVD Packaging Now Offered by Groove House Records

by HCNews on ‎04-17-2008 12:00 AM

CD and DVD manufacturer, Groove House Records, Inc. is demonstrating its commitment to preserving the natural environment by offering a variety of lower impact disc packaging options. Independent artists, recording labels, filmmakers, and businesses now have green alternatives to traditional plastic packaging for CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs.

Environmentally-responsible packaging made of 100% recycled cardboard in either sturdy brown chipboard (100% post-consumer waste) or bright white Enviroboard™ (50% post-consumer and 50% post-industrial waste) is available in a wide selection of package configurations. Clear disc trays made with 100% recycled plastic are offered for many of these package options.

All Groove House Records manufactured booklets, folders and tray cards are now printed on FSC-certified paper with soy-based inks, on at least 50% recycled stock. FSC certification guarantees that any virgin paper or board stock comes from responsible forestry operations. Only water-based, biodegradable varnishes are used for paper or card stock finishing.

Groove House Records is taking other measures to protect the environment through environmentally sound practices and processes. Both their print and disc manufacturing facilities recycle 100% of their paper, board and plastic waste.

While compact discs and DVDs are not yet made from recycled materials, Groove House Records has joined with CD Recyclers of America and encourages post-use recycling of discs and jewel cases.
