Vancouver BC based Primacoustic is please to announce the FlexiFuser, an innovative device designed to diffuse directional acoustic energy and help eliminate standing waves and flutter echo in studios and home theaters.
According to Primacoustic product manager Jay Porter: "A major problem in small room acoustics is flutter echo. This is the ping-pong chatter you hear when you clap you hands in an empty room. You can eliminate this problem with absorptive panels but when too many panels are used in a room, it can become lifeless and dull. Diffusers and sound scattering devices solve the problem by dissipating the energy into the room to retain the natural high end and create a greater sense of space. The challenge however is that top end diffusers like the Primacoustic Razorblade are very expensive to build. The new FlexiFuser presents the user with a very functional alternative that is less than 1/3 the price."
The FlexiFuser is 6" deep and features a full-size 24"x48" wall print. Six variable pitch diffuser slats span from top to bottom that may be rotated to various angles to create the desired energy spread. In effort to eliminate self-resonance, high density absorptive acoustic panels are discretely positioned behind the slats. These also reduce mid and high frequency flutter echo and help control primary reflections. When used in clusters, various patterns may be combined for maximum effect.
Made from wood composite and finished in a washable black melamine, the FlexiFuser ships flat to save on freight and is assembled in about 15 minutes. Estimated retail price is $399.00.
