* FYI- paf style pickups are generally pretty bright, med/low output(7k-10k). Distortion styles and pickups with ceramic magnets(alot of gibsons) are generally louder and more mid-spikey/bassy(9k-17k)
Other than gibson '57 classics, i've changed ALL my stock gibson pickups... as i play mostly Mesa/Boogie- ie Darker amps. They're great(gibson stock) with Marshal amps only IMHO....15+years of gigging and owning almost every type common guitar and amp combination- fender, marshall, boogie, peavey, PRS, gibson, heritage and ampeg. A great humbucker pickup for bright guitars and/or amp would be a Dimarzio Tone Zone, SD distortion, PRS dragon II's, HFS or vintage bass.... i'm sure there's alot of other opinions on this
