Ram upgrade on power mac G5

I know this is probably a stupid question, but here goes.

I want to jump from 512 MB of ram to 1 GB.

When purchasing ram do I buy another 512 chip set (2x256) bringing the mac to 512 + 512 = 1GB approx., or a 1 GB set with the thought that the retailers labelling may be implying the acheivable ram if installed rather than the amount of ram that would be added.

I am quite sure it is the former but don't want to make a mistake with my purchase.

Thanks in advance as this forum has always given me good advice and answers.

Re: Ram upgrade on power mac G5

The 512MB (2x256) kit is what you want. The amount on the kit is what is added to your computer.
