powering condenser mikes

I have a bunch of condenser mikes that I like. There are a couple of venues I work at that have older boards that don't have phantom power. I would like to use my condenser mikes at these venues. My question: does anyone make a unit that has a battery that could power these mikes? I'm thinking of a unit that would plug in in series with the XLR mike cable. Jeff.

Yes there are quite a few to choose from.

What mics do you have, some can use an internal bias battery.

I used to have this Samson unit - which was listed on the PHPhoto page someone linked earlier.

2 channel for $50.

It worked fine.

Re: powering condenser mikes

I'd just use whatever mics you have (or the venue has) that will function with the console.  I can't see spending money for something that you use only one place - unless it's one of the best places you play.
