Power for IEC speaker stacks

If you have a stack of powered speakers that have the IEC plugs what are you using to power the speakers?

Re: Power for IEC speaker stacks

if the speakers are powered then u just plug the into the wall or power strip as for the sound, go out of your mixer and into the input on the first speaker and use the loop trough for the rest

soundman11; say you have a QSC K12 over top of a KW181s, it requires 2 IEC plugs. What do you drop behind the speaker to give a power source there?

Re: Power for IEC speaker stacks

The reason I ask this, we are looking at buying some OA Windsor boxes. Such as the prebuilt PowerCon boxes (3PC-D 5352BK 20A); but may buy some 11T-D or 2T-D style boxes.

We do have a mix of Edison and PowerCon extension cables, our quad drops maybe getting a total revamp this winter.

So I am assuming your rig is always sitting near the wall and you don't need any sort of 'extension' for your system.

Re: Power for IEC speaker stacks

if i am in side i don't need them normally but if i am out side and i need to go 100 feet or more i will use 12 gage extension cords for each side so the cords don't over heat

Re: Power for IEC speaker stacks

but my rig is not that big, probably only 2,000 watts max. so i don't need that much power. the o.a Windsor box's would be a rout to take more reliable and safer then just some 100ft extension cords

Re: Power for IEC speaker stacks

I have a half dozen black 12/3 quad boxes, NEMA 5-15 (Edison) configurations. I have a couple of PowerCon to 5-15 and 5-15 to PowerCon adapters on hand, and one 5-20 to PowerCon adapter, just in case I'm working with somebody else's PowerCon based rig. None of the boxes I own has PowerCon connectors, so it really isn't a big issue to me.

I see that O.A. Windsor is based in Sheridan, WY. Who knew? Sounds like a motorcycle road trip next summer! Mark C.
