Sometime this summer I should be in a position to pick up some lifts so I can start flying my mains. I've been looking at the Global Truss ST180's at approx.$2300/pair. After doing a search of Ebay, I see the 16'-18' Genie lifts going used for less. Their specs show them to weigh a bit over 300lbs. Anyone here have any actual experience moving them? I see they're fitted with numerous wheels but that doesn't mean they're easy to move. One advantage I like about them is their capacity is 650lbs, quite a bit more than the GT's. That capacity isn't really needed as my load should be approx. 350lbs. But if they're not too hard to move and can be had for less...................why not?

I own two Genie lifts, a 24' personnel lift and an 18' equipment lift.  Both can be loaded and unloaded from a pick up or van by this 63 year old man.

Whoa, the answer you got is nothing like the experiences I live.

I own an AWP-36 and it's nowhere near a 1 person job, even with the tilt back loading wheel kit. I have also rented a 24 several times and IMO it's not a 1 person job either.

I also used the Genie super towers many times and they are definately not a one man piece... and even for 2 strong guys they are a bitch and a half.

If you are talking about Super LIFTS and not towers, those use a completely different outrigger system and many places will not allow them for use flying speakers off of, instead requiring the Super TOWER which is MUCH more stable.

Please do some additional research on this, look up the manufacturer's data as well and what's required (including cost) to maintain safety certification.

I am certain the GT ST180 can be moved by one person. Do you think one of those can safely fly approx. 350lbs at about12-14'?

The GT ST180 is manufactured by Global Truss. The Genie ST-20 (20' Super Tower) weighs twice as much and lifts twice as much

Tomm,

I would look at Applied engineering also. They are better than Global Truss (which I own) and not as heavy ass the Genies. They are well thought of, well engineered, not heavy compared to many, and not any ore expensive than most, although they are more $ than GT is.

I used to have the older Genie SL18 lifts, they were an easy one man move, right up to the tailgate, then another set of hands was a huge help. If your truck or trailer has an 8' ceiling and a lift gate or ramp, then the 2nd set of hands isn't required.

The current SLC-18's are 307 lbs
