Audio Technica and Digital Reference wireless

Just noticed that the DR 3000 series appears to be an exact copy of a AT2000 series, even in the same frequency range. I've heard that DR is owned by AT. Is it possible that these are the same unit?

There are indeed off-branding of AT products such as their pro 88 video wireless but there are significant differences in seemingly identical models if you look closely. These are usually responsible for the price differences. Buyer beware.

Digital Reference used to be an Audio Technica brand, but it is now owned by Guitar Center. I suspect that DR products are still made by AT and sold exclusively through GC, but I could be wrong.

I believe it was always manufactured by AT and sold as  GC/MF/Music 123 etc. exclusive brand.

Re: Audio Technica and Digital Reference wireless

I've worked for a company that did some re-brandng in the past. Sometimes these are nothing more than the same unit with a different name, sometimes they are designed to meet very different spec's (some better, come cheaper). Like Aged said, "buyer beware".

And personally, I never trust any "sold exclusively by XYZ..." products.
