I've got 3-4 performers and currently have four Chauvet Omega 250c color changers. I'd like the expand the system with some LEDs (as the color changers draw too much power and generate way too much heat).
I was thinking about getting a couple of Blizzard Fab5's for starters.
I have a couple of light stands and an older Chauvet TFX-16CON DMX controller.
I'd also appreciate any help of how to light the band, as in how much front vs. back lighting is needed. What kind of scenes should I create? Where would I use the color changers and where to use the LEDs...
Thanks for any advice,

I think I bought those color changers off you some time ago. I've got two bands. One is progressive rock originals (four piece) and the other is a cover band (three piece) with a variety of classic to new rock: zz top, red hot chili peppers, soundgarden, rockabilly, STP, ...
I've got two stands that I'm currently using out front. With two color changers on each stand. I'm thinking I need some kind of backlighting too.
My DMX controller is pretty anemic, but it's getting the job done currently. It's got 8 sliders and 8 latching buttons. I currently have it setup as two lights paired and aimed at the drummer and the other two covering the front left and right separately. So, I'm getting three zones of color.

Good memory Clay, it will be 7 years ago this Friday that you ordered the Omegas.
The Roxbox will be fine if you intend to keep the Omegas as your front lighting, otherwise, I'd recommend a fixture offering an amber diode channel to achieve real face tones.

Bill, do you carry Blizzard products?
I have some questions...
General lighting questions
Front vs. back, currently I'm lighting from the front to light the performers.
What is the purpose of back lighting?
How much do I need relative to the front lighting?
Since I need amber for the front, do I need to run amber most of the time in the front? and change the backlighting to set the mood? or do I highlight the singer with amber?
Where do I need wash lights vs. spots? Wash in the back and spots in the front?
Do I need side lighting?
What kind of effect lighting should I get first in the future? (planning for expansion)
Specific to my Application
Should I keep the Omegas?
Where should I best use the Omegas? front/back
Is there any advantage to using LEDs up front (RGBA or RGBWA).
Do I really need to use DMX cables (as opposed to mic cables)? especially if I use trees/truss in the back.
For my limited DMX controller, I'd need to use the 3 or 4 channel mode for the new lights.
I got this controller because it has a foot switch. I do have a midi pedal for program change.
My drummer has a fogger.
Thanks for your help!!
