OT: Naming a cat after a synthesizer

A new cat might be coming into my household and I'd like to give her a synthesizer related name. Getting another cat is my wife's idea and I'm not 100% thrilled about it, but I'm not entirely against it either. Since the cat is being imposed upon me, I figure I have a little leverage in the situation. I'm going to stipulate that the cat can join the family as long as I'm allowed to name her.

Here's where the fun begins. A synthy name would give me no end of entertainment as my wife coos at "our little (insert synth name here)". I'm looking for a synth or keyboard related name that has some flair and rolls off the tongue easily.

I've tried not to think too hard so as to not spoil the fun. So far the best name that's popped into my head is "Solina" (Arp string ensemble).

I could work hard at finding the name of every synth, keyboard, or fx box ever created. But it would be more fun to open this up to the forum. Let's hear your best synth themed cat names!

Ha! I can't believe I didn't think of that. Sometimes the most obvious things are the hardest to see.

Well they named a synth after a CAT so this seems like a great idea to me. +1 on Med's idea.

Re: OT: Naming a cat after a synthesizer

hmm...good idea!

I'm going to call our naighbours new cat Kronos. Its fitting, because we cut his fathers balls.
I am wanting, I am thinking
To arise and go forth singing,
Sing my songs and say my sayings,
Hymns ancestral harmonizing,
Lore of kindred lyricking.
In my mouth the words are melting;
Utterances overflowing
To my tongue are hurrying,
Even against my teeth they burst.

Yes, just name the cat "Cat" and everyone will be happy. p.s. -- I had a cat named Macintosh. Maine coons make the best cats, they're practically dogs.

Re: OT: Naming a cat after a synthesizer

I personally like 'Moog' or 'Oberheim'! Both companies played a major role in developing synth technologies 'for the masses'.

If our name gets chosen, do we win some kind of prize??

More ideas: Fizmo (model by Ensoniq) If she really gats fat, you can name her Mo'phat (E-MU module) :smileyhappy:

Re: OT: Naming a cat after a synthesizer

I wanted to name our Cat Leviticus. Not for any reason I thought it sounded good. My next cat will be named A-100.

Re: OT: Naming a cat after a synthesizer

GAUL: Fizmo!! That's a great idea. She's a strange looking cat so that's a perfect fit. And the name leaps off the tongue easily. I think that's the front runner for me now. PC: I was thinking about Aelita which is the name of a patch in the Muz3um expansion pack in the Rapture soft synth. But I don't know anything about Aelita. Is it a Soviet synth perhaps?

I mean, if you really want to get down to it, a true VCO isn't controlled by voltage anyway, it's controlled by an exponential current that is converted from the linear input voltage. So VCOs aren't really directly controlled by voltage anyway.
