Be thankful there is no V Link taking up real estate ;-)

I don't speak the language, but on the scan in post #166 on this page, I see - MS20, Mono/Poly, Prophecy, Z1, MS2000, and Radias listed.

EDIT:  never mind.  According to this, it's re-hashed DWGS and PCM or somesuch:

Not interested, and it doesn't seem too much like ' King Korg ' anymore -  LOL

I do speak a little bit of German -- assuming I'm not too terribly rusty, that sentence basically translates as "While the KingKorg may not climb skyscrapers, it seems predestined for excellence, looking back at its ancestors: the MS-20 and Mono/Poly, as well as the Prophecy, Z1, MS2000, and Radias."

Basically, the KingKorg carries on the heritage of those earlier synths.

Re: NAMM 2013

i think this is just Korg's logical next synth release - they had a big hit with the microkorg/ms2k combo, with more in depth users picking up the ms2k and more NEW synth users picking up the micro - and i think the simpler seeming interface helped a lot with that in addition to the small size of the micro. (speaking of the us market only - i realize these products are designed in japan, which is a different market with different needs than ours - but theyve obviously started to pay attention)

then they release the Radias/R3 combo, which i think took the MS2K interface a little too far. loved the angled panel design, didnt like the cramped panel that much (this coming from a eurorack user haha) and it just felt like even the revamped panel with added controls and fancier menu wasnt enough to harness all that horsepower. it was definitely an intimidating instrument for the non enthusiast, and i would GUESS that they sold poorly even compared with the MS2K. still a cool synth though. R3, i have no idea what happened there. not intuitive enough for the new user and not fancy enough for the established? certainly didnt help that they were competing directly with the microkorg.

this then brings us to King Korg, where i feel like theyve distilled some past lessons about interface design back into a simpler product, with more emphasis on the end user's experience while actually playing the instrument vs packing max features into a VA. i sort of get that, and applaud it - but then the access virus TI looms on an entirely different level, shitting supersaws down onto the polyphony counts of the Korg, with a decent user experience to boot. i dont stack parts like that really, but i know a lot of you do so it would seem to be a tough choice for many people. the King Korg will definitely have to sound good, but its got enough distinguishing features of its own to set it apart i think. we'll have to see. hope those OLED's are color!

I hope they give the vr-09 this:

'' Jupiter Version 2.0 Features

  • Three types of low-pass filters; combined with the previous type, a total of four filters are now available''

.. and some of the Synth Legends, series of free sound libraries (it cannot hold as much or use ARP so is limited)

I wonder if it'll have release velocity, and what the price will be.  Depending on those two things, I might pick one up.  22 lbs. for 88 keys would be nice.

Ya - I figured that.  At first I thought it was a multi-engine synth that had all those in it (in software form).

If that were the case, then it would have deserved the name King Korg.

I need a Roland workstation!

But perhaps Casio will make it. Heres first tasting of the new Privia PX-5S:

Do I hear hex layers in there...or...what does the s stand for? Perhaps the layers are even better this time...

To arise and go forth singing,
Sing my songs and say my sayings,
Hymns ancestral harmonizing,
Lore of kindred lyricking.
In my mouth the words are melting;
Utterances overflowing
To my tongue are hurrying,
Even against my teeth they burst.

I doubt that thing is real. Looks like a bad photoshop drawing. But I'd love to be wrong about that!

Have not really heard a peep yet from Yamaha this NAMM show. Either they don't have much to show, or they really managed to keep a lid on their new products.

Dicks up boys! New Prophet is coming:

http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/products/prophet12/index.php:

-12 voice

-4 oscillators generating classic and complex waveforms

-A sub-oscillator

-Resonant analog low- and HIGH-pass filters \o/

-Analog VCAs

-A new "Character section" adds a variety of wave shaping and sound sculpting options, like Drive, Hack, Decimation, Girth, and Air.

-Four-tap stereo delay per voice

-Expanded arpeggiator functionality

-Deep modulation capabilities

-Bi-timbral operation

-The LFOs, delay, and arpeggiator can all be synced, either to the internal clock or an external MIDI clock. -Two programmable position- and pressure-sensitive touch sliders take the performance controls beyond the standard pitch and mod wheels (also included).

 -WTF! It has everything!!!

DSI Prophet 12

Edit:  Whoops.  Beaten to the punch.  Well, I can at least give color commentary -- this looks like a rare beast.  4 oscillators + sub osc per voice, lpf->hpf chain, distortion, delay, feedback, and even what looks like a waveshaping section.  I'm sure this will be expensive as hell, but sweet Christ, WANT.
