Cleaning Keyboard controls

I'm pretty sure that the keyboard controls on my Roland RD300GX are in need of cleaning. (Including the pitch bend control on the left end of the board.) Anyone know the proper way? Anybody do it wrong and find out why it was the wrong way? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
