The software to understand breath information is there in the ROM. The hardware is missing.
A jack on a device isn't just a jack... it has wires that connect to additional circuitry. In this case, there has to be something to take the signal from the breath controller and essentially interpret it and turn it into something useful that the ROM can process, i.e. MIDI data. That's what the MIDI Solutions box does.
