suggestions for good powered speakers / monitors

Hello,

I need some help finding a good pair of powered speakers / monitors for a music room. They would be used for various things:

* general music listening

* using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 for guitar & bass with an Apogee Duet 2 as interface
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/...tar-rig-5-pro/
http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/duet2.php

* using Fxpansion BFD2 with an Apogee Duet 2 as interface, using my electronic drums (Roland TD11-KV)
http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=53&tab=148
http://www.rolandus.com/products/details/1227/483

* possibly plugging into a mixer to be used as monitors for jamming, usually plugging various instruments like electronic drums, Line 6 pods, ....

* recording & mixing in Logic 9

I'm looking for something nice and clean, that can handle the low end of drums & bass and lots of guitars.

Thanks!

Re: suggestions for good powered speakers / monitors

In live sound and production you'll get pro advice.

For loudspeaker applications: JBL PRX 612s over (1 or 2) PRX 618XLF or the quite similar (performance wise) QSC KW 122 over KW 181 are good options. I personally have use a hodge podge of QSC HPR tops over yorkville LS subs. They're pretty good, but heavy.

For studio work, I use some JBL LSR 2300 series speakers. I like them. Lower-ball gear but plenty good for my uses.

You're not going to get the low end without subs no matter how you slice it.

Re: suggestions for good powered speakers / monitors

I'm in a similar situation. I only play at home, but I've been struggling to find a sound I'm happy with.

I have 2 rigs...

1) Guitar -> M-Audio Fast Track Pro -> PC -> Guitar Rig -> Logitec PC Speakers w/subwoofer.

2) Guitar -> DIY Soldano X88R clone -> TC Electronic G-Major 2 -> DIY 50W EL34 Power Amp -> Mesa Recto 212

You would think #2 sounds good. It does, but not at low volume. I have to get it stupid loud before it starts to sound good. I find myself 95% of the time just using Guitar Rig.

I've been thinking about getting an HD500 and some studio monitors like KRK 8". If I could buy only one thing right now (HD500 or monitors) which would make the greatest improvement in sound in my #1 rig?
Rig:
Ibanez S2170FB
Soldano X88R Clone Preamp
TC Electronic G-Major 2
50W EL34 Rack Power Amp
Lopo 2x12 Cab.

Stuff I've built:
5W tube amp (1 12AX7/1 EL84)
Ruby Cigar Box Amp
X88R Clone
50 Rack Power Amp
