Fascinating stuff. I guess you can get so paranoid that eventually you start saying things that really do make everyone hate you.
The mainstream media's newfound obsession with these truthers is almost as weird as the truthers themselves, though.

Agreed. But considering the sources--the fringe of right-wing talk, the folks at infowars.com, etc.--they're not going to. And given the increasingly high stakes of the NRA v. Obama administration throwdown over 2nd Amendment rights, this whole discussion is going to get ugly.

And the truthers are not really in the American mainstream. If you can use them as the brush to paint the whole gun rights movement, then you might stand to win some additional hearts and minds.

That said, what the truthers are really picking up on is that reporting in the wake of the shooting was lousy and riddled with inaccuracies and misinformation. That's not a conspiracy. It's ineptitude.

The media coverage was overdone and, in the rush to be first, filled with inacurracy, as you say. I'll glady throw some blame their way.

I wonder what it is about some people who simply cannot accept the official version of something. Is a crazy man with a gun more likely than a giant government conspiracy? Seems so to me.

As a person with some personal experience with the Nixon Enemies list, I should be more of a conspiracy buff, but I just can't manage the distrust and outrage. I don't know if I should be happy or sad about that.

I think it's more a case of "I have a conspiratorial world view, so now I must bend every spectacular media event to fit the exact size and shape of my paranoia."

Mind control if fine, but a boot on the neck is quicker. I suspect that if the Zionist-Obama-Banker-NWO types really wanted to subjugate us, they'd just farting do it already. When they want people dead, governments don't doink around. They just burgle them in the backside and be done with it.
