Re: Mark Wein will be on my show tomorrow

Perhaps I'll ask Carl if adding a 5th pickup to my guitar will send me back in time.

Re: Mark Wein will be on my show tomorrow

Jammity, you have caused me to toss aside one of my major prejudices.   I've always thought it was pretentious when one TV talk shos host would appear on another's talk show.  Don't even get me started on how much disdain I have for "Hoda and Kathy Lee"!

But this is different: you  are hosting a show that will have Mark, one great guitarist (greater yet, because he actively passes along his knowledge to us, the unwashed masses) posing questions to another accomplished guitarist.  And listeners will get the trifecta of you hosting the show.

Thanks bunches.

Just wait until you get your own late night talk show and the situation pops up where Letterman wants to do a guest appearance on your show.  It's not pretentious at all.  It's common sense marketing.  Throwing out that wide net and reeling them in.

In this case I know Mark asks brilliant guitar-centric questions that go beyond run of the mill guitar mag stuff, which is why I asked him to join us.

No offense intended, Jammity.  I stated that you were one of the exceptions to my prejudice.

I was referring to daytime TV talk shows, where one host fraom a second or third tier show appears as the guest on another second or third tier TV talk show.  Think Rikki Lake appearing on Maury, Jerry Springer appearing on Steve Wilkos......

I understand what you're saying but when I see that on TV in my mind it's just business/marketing.  They're dipping into each other's viewership to get more viewers.  It has nothing to do with pretentiousness.  I know of a few other guitar shows and I would guest on their shows in a second.  We have the same audience.  Why wouldn't I want to advertise my show on a show that has the demographic I'm trying to target?

Yes, my typing skills are slipping, but there is no "edit post" button on this new format.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse (Because I never do that), but the product is irrelevant.  If you had a show about elitist beers you'd want to appear on a bigger elitist beer show so you can bring that audience over to your show.  That's not pretentious at all.  It's just good marketing.
