An on-duty transit officer arrested a man after he allegedly tried to rob a Charlestown Dunkin’ Donuts with a spoon.

The suspect, identified as Michael Wallace, reportedly threatened cashiers at the Cambridge Street store with what appeared to be a knife. Police later found that the man had been holding a spoon with the rounded end out like a blade, according to an interview on WHDH posted at 7 a.m. Monday.

Officer Matthew Donovan with the MBTA Police entered the store during the incident and was able to stop the suspect, according to WHDH.

The exact date and time of the incident was not included in the report.

Charlestown Patch will have more details as they become available.

If only somebody else in the shop had been carrying a spoon this all could have been avoided.

Reminds me of the episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" where Don Rickles held up Rob and Laura Petrie with a pocket comb.

The leftist commies that want to ban assault spoons just don't understand. From my cold, dead, creme-covered fingers.

Spoon were accomplices in a robbery? I thought Britt Daniel would be way too chill to try something like that.

Re: Man tries to rob Dunkin Donuts with Spoon

I saw a documentary about a man that planned to carve his enemy's heart out with a spoon. Pretty sure this was in England, where guns are banned.

Alan Rickman and Tim Curry ought to do a short film where they do nothing but mug and glower at one another for five minutes or so.
