Replace the TOM with a hardtail and I'd hit that like a bro on a tray of jello shots.
I don't know. The WRHBs are intriguing and I agree about the hardtail v. TOM. But I'm always weirded out by Fender-style offsets with no pickguard. Seems wrong.

What's your take on the Lee Ranaldo "Jazzblaster," with a TOM and WRHBs but a Jazzmaster vibrato?

They kept the large headstock...

Looks very nice.
I would have to play it and hear it to make a judgement. You could always add some jazzmaster or P-90 pickups later.
Loves me some offsets. They fit your body like a fine suit.

Much better than this. One of my things is I have to have a guitar with a shallow string angle behind the bridge. It has a big effect on tone. I'm not opposed to WRHBs per se, but they're not my thing. TOMs are okay, but unnecessary, I think.

The WRHBs that Fender is putting into their new guitars do NOT sound like the vintage WRHBs. I have no idea what the difference is, but a bandmate of mine has an old '72 custom and the difference is quite noticeable.

This is pretty well known; it has to do with the enormous expense of the CuNiFe polepieces that were in the original. There's a dude who'll wind you a real pair of WRHBs for something like $400.

The Creamery make authentic WRHB that are meant to sound very good.
