Re: Guitar World's Top 10 Classic Shred Albums

I'm guessing most of the naysayers here have heard 1-3 of the albums mentioned if even that, and probably none all the way through.

HC armchair experts for the win.

I'd say most of the artists in this list are right on. Maybe a couple of the albums could be different.

The only thing I would swap out is Maximum Security over Edge Of Insanity, but I get that they were going after The Classics.

Number of Best Coast/Radiohead/Grizzly Bear/Animal Collective/whatever records you've spun all the way through?

I bought Surfing with the Alien back in the day. I marvelled at the fingerwork but overall it was meh.

I traded it off for something better.

It's named because it's the album that broke him. Personally, my favorite is Flying in a Blue Dream. The songs are more cohesive, more important than just backing tracks for him to jack off over the top of.

Also, Uncle Cracker sucks.

Nope.  Note the chronology.  Back then we all knew what Buckethead looked like.  I still have the issue from which he appeard in the Varney column.  He was in back of the line.
