too hard to decide...so i got a couple of each... i like a little tele snap in the morning through the drri or tweaker, but later as the evening comes on and the wine bottle empties i find myself gravitating to the 335 through the marshall or sovtek. after years of extensive research, and countless bottles of wine, i have come to the conclusion that it's all good...
`No there are no other options. No there is not a poll. Focus.'
pfffttt...

Strats are kinda curvy/feminine looking. Might be gay. Book of golf jokes instead.

An easy choice; the Telecaster.

Own both but if I had to choose it would be the 335. And I disagree with JJ, 335 doesn't really do a tele sound.
Not dead on but you can fake it. You can't make a Tele sound like a 335.

I'd get that 335 on the pic, sell it and buy two good Teles and a Casino or one good Tele and a 330.

Stock?
The more versatile choice is the 335.

With a little creativity you get that sharp Tele sound with the way you dial in a 335 and the right amp, but a Tele can't do a 335 and has none of the sonic range. You guys are stuck with the image thing without ever having done any experimentation. A 335 is way more versatile. Maybe not as comfortable to wear on stage, but a lot more versatile.
Hope this helps.
Versatility isn't everyone's top priority, though.

Anyhow, although the 335 is a badass guitar and one of my favorite things from Gibson's line, I just connect more with the sound and feel of Teles. I'm going with Tele, not because it's "better", but just becauseof my history and how/what I play.
If I didn't place any importance on having a vibrato bridge (which I do), I think if I had a really good specimen of each I could be pretty happy not having any other guitars...

Should be. OP said deathmatch. Do you want to go into the ring with good stand up, or with good stand up AND good ground and pound? All around wins in a deathmatch. It's a deathmatch, squid. Please pay attention. I know the changeover has been hard on you.
Are you ok?

If we're taking the term "deathmatch" so literally, then I'm going to double down on my Tele choice, because it would clearly make the superior weapon, sonic versatility be damned.
I took "deathmatch" as a deathmatch in my heart, in which a 335 could certainly be a contender but the Tele wins.

Well, I guess deathmatch in real life I'd have to take the tele cuz it's a solid body and would hurt more if you hit some one upside the head with it.
But we play music with our guitars, so you can choose to be thin, wiry and telecaster-y like olive oyl, or round, suclent and 335 ish like Angelina Jolie's lips. Your choice.
Can you now see why I'm worried about you?

I'm a thin, wiry guy who most of the time likes thin, wiry sounds
BTW if you add a four way siwtch with a spot for the pickups in series (I have done this with mine), while your Tele isn't going to sound like a 335, you're going to get into some beefier territory while still sounding single-coil-ey. It's a modification I heartily endorse- I like having that sound available, even though I don't use it a ton.
Angelina Jolie looks a little scary TBH.

I always forget that. Most guitar players are pretty single minded in the sounds they like. I guess I like too much stuff. All my guitars can do more than one thing. I have a superstrat that does great funk and jazzy stuff in addition to shred.
