Blue Movie

Haven't worked up the video yet, but I was going to use footage from Candy.

Samples:
Buddy Holly - Peggy Sue and Peggy Sue Got Married
Lee Dorsey - Get Out Of My Life Woman
The Mad Lads - Make This Young Lady Mine
De La Soul - Eye Know
Steely Dan - Peg
Beatles - Drive My Car
Larry Carlton - Room 335
samples cut, beatmatched and sequenced in FL Studio

Peg cover gear:
FPC 808 kit
Addictive Drums
Squier P/J Bass -> Groove Tubes Brick DI
Epiphone Emperor Archtop -> MA-101 mic and Great River DI
Squier Telecaster
Rhythm -> Fender Bassman rhythm channel, Camel Space
Lead -> Boss Blues Driver -> Fender Bassman lead channel
Rapture Synth
Reason Horns
Reason Oohs and Aahs
A ridiculous number of vocal takes

Cool stuff. I like the drum break -> BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP-> drum break thing at the end. I just got a sampler a few days ago, I wanna do something like this. I have grand plans of mashing up Innervisions with some mid 70's Joni Mitchell. :smileysurprised: Also, Larry Carlton is a beast.

70's Joni Mitchell mash up you say? Featuring Larry Carlton?

GET OUT OF MY BRAIN.

Here's a song about a robot's struggles with psychedelic drugs.

That's great. Daft Punk in a sunny mood. What did you use on the vocals?

(fyi, there's about :20 of silence at the end of the track)

Re: February Recording Thread

Vocovee on the vocals. I tried singing it straight but the song cried out for some robo vox. Originally had a theremin vst as the carrier but you couldn't make out the words. Still gotta mess with it a bit to bring out some clarity.

We just moved, so I'm setting up my new recording space. The band is working on our second release, but I think the dailies are "embargoed" until everyone approves.

I'm guessing that it won't sound like Daft Punk in a sunny mood. :smileysurprised:

Looking forward to the release.  What happened to the recording diary?

Re: February Recording Thread

It's in progress. I did the first entry, then the move and another guy's family stuff put us about a month off our (arbitrary) schedule. I'm going to "go live" with the blog once I've got a few entries in place and I'm able to update regularly. It'll likely be a ways under your skill level, tho.
