Which stage of ripeness below represents your idea of banana perfection?

I like 'em a little green. 3-4 for me.
Also, feel free to pretend there's a #8, which is more brown than #7.

6 and a kudo for YOU!

5-6 for eating.
9-10 for making banana cake/loaf

5.5. 5 or 6 would probably be acceptable. Two observations about bananas: I usualy prefer room-temperature fruit but a slightly chilled banana is nice; what's really good flavour-wise is to eat a nice sour orange immediately followed by a banana. It's a winning combination.

Problem with chilled bananas is that the fridge seems to turn them brown much more quickly than the would if left on the counter.

That's true but a cold kitchen will suffice. Bananas are so full of contradictions, aren't they? They come in a convenient, oh-s0oeasy to open wrapper but they're quite the little madam when it comes to ripening and keepng.

Ripeness Stage 6 for me.

5 or 6 is perfect. The right amount of sweet and solid (texture, I guess).
And kudos for the poll. Not sure I have seen one before, but it's good to know that other people carefully select their favorite ripening period.
That feeling when you're not sure to eat the banana or ditch it to bread or trash. Have TWO before it goes bad!
In another forum (HCAF) this probably wouldn't go so well. Such good behavior!
