I had to work late shift, so I didn't get to see it either.

Just caught the highlights, both Shelvey's goals were very good. Good on the young lads getting the win.

Re: 2012-2013 Premier League Predictions Thread

Just watched the first part of that Liverpool doc. Two things really struck me.

1) The sheer inanity of Brendan Rogers dealings with the players. Everything seems to need to be the most important thing ever. To get the players to do ANYTHING he seems to need to give a rousing Churchilian speech

2) The childisness of the players. The part where they were getting a yoga lessons was incredible. There has been a plenty of examples in recent years of players extending their careers with yoga (Ryan Giggs being the prime example). Yet all the player's seemed to think it was all a joke, and they where incredibly disreptful to the teacher. It was like watching a group of 11 year old boys. It explains why Rogers needs to treat them like sheep.

BTW this isn't a pop at Liverpool. I'm sure every club is the same. And I know I shouldn't be surprised, but Christ

I couldn't be fucked watching that, is it worth seeing? I did read it was a bit boring

The QPR documentary is brilliant, it's like one of those comedy fake documentaries. Flavio Briatore is great value

Brendan clearly has a lot to work on, mentality being the key issue. And that's something we've struggled with for over 20 years now, and was worsened even more by Hodgson, Dalglish's second stint and the 2 cowboys that nearly run the club bankrupt.
It really says something that the worst players recently have been the senior players who should have stood out as leaders (Gerrard, Reina, Carra and so on).
Something's obviously rotten somewhere when the best players so far this season have been a Welsh newcomer and a 17 year old winger.

There's a good bit in one of the next episodes where Brendan tears Sterling a new one for his attitude (basically being told to lose the attitude or take the first flight back home to the reserves) during the US preseason tour. It obviously worked.

That said, I really don't think it's much better in most of the other PL clubs (Rooney being the prime example).
Still, as a football fan, and Liverpool fan especially, quite interesting to watch.

Raheem Sterling had better realise his potential or his child support payments could bankrupt him

I'm looking forward to him having a bit of fun with Rafael on Sunday to be honest.

Seriously, I hope LFC guard that talent well. Watched lots of reserve games with him last year, and that talent is fucking huge. I did expect him to struggle a bit more initially, but the lad's been on fire since the City match.
He should expect a new vastly improved contract quite soon I'm sure. Not like he's broke anyway.

Even if you have to pay QPR the full £5m or whatever you bought him for, it looks very good value at the moment

Absolutely. I think it was something like 5m after a certain number of matches. Definitely worth it imo.
Downing must be in agony. Villa's arguably best player 2 years ago, and now displaced by a 17 year old.

In a way, our failure on deadline day could be a good thing long term, lots of our young lads will get the opportunity this season. A few have already done well (Wisdom and Suso yesterday), so they need to grab that opportunity. Luckily the academy has been doing great work recently, and unlike Kenny Brendan isn't scared to play them.
I genuinely think we should have a good solid foundation of homegrown players in just a few years. Too bad that last year was just useless.

Yeah I think it was £600K down then rising to £5M or so

If you need to harden him up a bit in 18 months then send him north on loan to us, rangers transfer ban will be over, so he could learn some well needed skills* in the scottish second division**

You're missing my point. I don't think this has anything to do with Liverpool. It's an insight into the modern game. And it sickens me

Another cringeworthy moment was Rogers and the Red Sox manager. Here are two men at the top of their profession forced to make these inane speeches and presentations to each other to sastify commercial interests. They both looked humiliated. It's supposed to be sport, not marketing

This referee is an utter and complete ****. Evans and Shelvey were both studs up. And this was 2 minutes after Evra not even getting carded for basically taking down Sterling in the penalty box.
