Why should the FORUM part of HC be compromised, to blend it with the rest of the HC site? I have never used the rest of HC for anything, just the forum. The forum IS harmony central. It's information is more up to date than industry writer, as the work is spread out over thousands of users.

And, you are right. I wouldn't have fired them, but I would have NEVER approved of this interface. It goes against every rule of ergonomic and efficient design that I have ever been taught, studied and use on a daily basis in my job of computer support.

The new interface is NOT a leap into the future, but rather an ill-attempt to look "modern", while becoming less functional and efficient.

Let's hope this plays out like HC 2.0

1. Non-stop complaints about new forum

2. Defensive posts by moderators saying 'give it time.'

3.Some improvments made but not enough to overcome major design issues.

4.Increasingly defensive posts by moderators, site designers and, eventually stuffed shirt from MF.

5.Massive drop in traffic.

6.MF realizes they've seriously messed things up.

7.Capitulation and return to some sort of vbb.

Because one extra step makes things so much simpler /sarcasm

edit: and there's another one. Instead of having an edit button we now have to go into the options menu (which is full of things that are useless or redundant*) and hit edit.

*there's a 'report innapropriate content' button on the left, and one in the options menu, yet people will hardly ever use it compared to functions like edit or quote. ffs

They let you make it long as you want in your profile, but it only displays like the top 20 lines or so in your post.
