You've got to be kidding.  The only positvie posts I've seen are one guy spamming his amp company.  Everythinng else is extremely negative.  I have no idea what you're looking at where you think reviews are mixed.

This is exactly what you did before.  You take some hideous software that looks like a high school project that probably received a D at best, and force it on a fairly internet savvy group of people and try to pretend that everything is okay.  Just like before, everything is not okay.  I have no idea what anybody was thinking when they saw this software and thought installing it was a good plan.  Are you guys deliberately trying to kill the forum?

And apparently, replying with a quote ain't intuitive. IF ONLY I COULD EDIT.

Anyway, I ain't seeing no filmstrip thing when I'm making a post. I see a linky deal and a photo deal. But no filmstrip.

The scroll in work-around makes the text huge. I (and many others) would prefer a real fix.

I bet that the consensus comes up that the forums are now super ugly. Just a guess.

And if Google has forced yr hand, that's that. If anything, the awkwardness of the bleeps and the need to change language to not see them will probably be what gets me to stop posting here altogether. Makes reading and chatting terrible/tiresome.

When you click rply, there is a button at the top of your text area that says "Quote".  Click it and it adds the quote to your post.

Despite the fact that the robo-censor beeped P O S (when aggregated without spaces), I'm sort of enjoying it.

It brings out a little rarely seen creativity from a certain cohort. = D

But they really, REALLY must fix it so that you are taken to the post you have just written after you post.

Also... we really need to be able to set the number of posts to a page on an individual basis.

Look, here's an example of a good forum layout. It's wide. You don't have to side-scroll, EVER! All the sub-forums are on page one. You don't have to "click to go to your post". There is very little wasted space and it works pretty well. They really need more emoticons though.

Craig, if you could please pass this on to the schmuck who designed this new fangled thing I'd appreciate it.

Clearly no lessons learned from the 2.0 fiasco

Abysmal design, it's truly awful - is this the result of one of those "bring your lids to work" days?

there is a filmstrip to embed video? I haven't been able to find it.

the quote function is not very clear, frankly, all it would need is a bounding box, a different background colour...

I know how, but got hung up apparently because my curor got caught in the line/divider and wouldn't just create a new line/divider when I hit "Enter." In a fit of angry button mashing, I wound up posting the quote but not the reply--which is something I would have edited if I only could!

Maybe this would be easier without a tiny box and a bunch of scroll bars.  But then I wouldn't be able to see the giant "Subscriptions" area and the stupid Message Tags section.  OH DEAR!

Is email notification the only way to subscribe to a thread? I don't need my email clogged up with this. Notification here is just dandy.

Boy howdy.  This forum looks like mashed dog poo.  Of course the reviews are "mixed" so nothing will change until everyone leaves or until Google tells them they need to de-ugly.

There are definitely lots of things that need to be fixed here. And I agree that robo-censorship can seem mildly insulting.

And for forums that basically have consisted of gutter insults flung back and forth, yeah, I'm thinking that's going to have a wet blanket effect -- although, as I noted, maybe it might spur a little rare spark of creativity among some of those folks.

But OTHER sites oriented to music and recording ALSO enforce a modicum of politeness and professional behavioir. Gearslutz has robo-censors and I don't see that site is suffering from a dearth of deeply involved, often quite knowledgeable posters. (And, of course, there are plenty of newbs there, too. God love 'em.)

Firstly, I'd like to thank the good folks at HC for recognizing there was a BIG problem with the forums and going to the trouble and expense to fix it.

In no particular order -

The text wrap not working is a PITA.

Avatars are too small.  Yes, the forum is made by its members, and they are still here posting, but the avatars are like seeing a friendly face.  Can they be increased to 150x150?

A "return to forum" button at the bottom of the screen would be nice.

Speaking of avatars, it seems one has to load a picture to be able to use it as an avatar, but i don't see how to do that. i got my present avatar up, but i can't seem to repeat the process for adding a picture from my computer.  used to be much easier.

You Tube linking would be nice to have back.

i don't really care that there is a profanity edit.  another forum i used to post on add a feature that changed words to more in-offensive words.  f'rinstance the word 'f***' became 'Bob Saget'.

that's it for now.  let me get used to it a little more.

and again - Thanks

Yeah, nested quotes are tedious and most of the time just serve to muck things up.

Re: We Want to Hear What You Think About the New Design

Adding tags for all to see will be abused easily.

I'd rather have personal tags that I can create and apply to threads and topics as I see fit.

Also, clicking the title of a thread should take you to the first post. That's an age old forum type of convention that shouldn't change.

But I think that fear must be nothing compared to the fear the first graders in Sandy Hook Elementary School felt as their lives ended in a hail of bullets. The fear that those children who survived the massacre must feel every time they remember their teachers stacking them into closets and bathrooms, whispering that they loved them, so that love would be the last thing the students heard if the gunman found them."- Gabrielle Giffords
