Can I launch full scale attack to test the new format?
Frankly, I do not like the new format; for some reason I think that will be a common theme.
My biggest gripe is the aforementioned page looking too white. We need a little bigger, darker text, or a bit more color on the page, or maybe even both. It's almost blinding. On the plus side, a LOT of stuff that didn't work before seems to be functioning again, which is good.
You can change the text size from the browser. Just how depends on the browser.

Those options aren't there for me.

It's pretty ridiculous when the main reason people are saying this site is better than the old one is because it works.
Way to set the bar high.
It's atrocious for many reasons, the main one for me being the absolute waste of useable space between the headers and sidebars.
I try to be positive because I know a lot of work probably went into this but, in all honesty, it looks amatuerish and is no better than the Jive debacle. Seriously, I want to hear from MF management on why they think this is an acceptable solution and not just hide behind the moderators who are in for an undeserved sihtstorm in the coming days and weeks.

Couple of thoughts:

This is a lot like the 2.0 mess in that the interface is grotesque. They really need to get somebody involved who has a clue about user interface design. It's visually unappealing, as mentioned there's a huge amount of wasted space, the picture on the side are distracting, navigation is more convoluted than it needs to be. This is seriously 20 year behind the times on what makes a pleasant user experience. I don't get it. The designers need to remember that almost always, less is more.

This site is a *insert my user name*!!
This is the Justin Bieber of forum design.

I expect I'll figure out how to list subscribed threads. And I expect I'll get used to the layout and the interface.
But what I will absolutely not get used to is the fact that the programmers seem to think that 'kudos' is the plural of 'kudo'. It ain't. This is something to which I cannot give too big an emphasi.

Oh... and the no-video-embedding thing is pretty huge.

I agree with 1 and 3. Regarding 2: I defintely prefer the look and feel of vBulletin but I think I could get used to this with a few changes. The crolling text mentioned in point 3 is particularly annoying. Regarding 4...click {Options] and click [Edit Reply].

I'm with pretty much everyone else here. You guys have ROYALLY screwed this site up with this new software. You know, the free open source software that's been around for years is the most functional software around. You should use that. You need to stop letting people sell you on custom ċrap. And really, I can't believe this software just censored the word ċrap. Are you serious? Are you guys really going to be that ánal retentive from now on?
I don't care how "cool" a site looks like, if it's as COMPLETELY disfunctional as this site is, there's no point in coming here.

Along with everything that has been posted:
1. Thank you for at least giving us something to post on that doesn't have latency issues. Thank you for the hours that you spent doing the migrations and testing.
2. The sidebars are probably the most annoying thing to people used to the VB site. Once the two week 'welcome to the new site' has passed, ditch the Welcome banner and move the whole board up into that space and ditch the side banners. That leaves you the two top banners that you had before and makes the screen at least sort of resemble what we had before. The rest of the issues are probably tweaks that you can implement as you go along (word wrap, color scheme, text size, etc.).
3. Add a forum jump link on the bottom like we used to have (unless I missed it). Having to scroll back to the top is a bit tedious (I have mine set to display 50 posts).
4. Add a PM link right on the users avatar section/name section of their posts like every other forum in the world. It took forever for me to find the PM "link" as it wasn't a button, that I'm used to seeing (and that I had to drill into someones profile to find it).

It's pretty awful to be honest, but rather than just moan about it and cry like a baby I think we should probably all make some constructive suggestions to hopefully get it improved. I understand why the switchover has been rushed, because the old forums were just unusable for a really long time.
My complaints so far:
1) The banners at the top are huge. Way too big.
2) Wasted space either side of the text.
3) It's really difficult to differentiate between what someone has posted and what is in their signature
4) No text wrapping when typing a response
5) Avatars too small
6) Bleep censoring of words like **bleep** and **bleep** ![]()
7) No hover preview on forum pages
8) Thred titles not being displayed in full - all bunched up, would be better if they ran the full width of the screen

Yeah I really miss the pre-Jive Harmony Central layout. GearSlutz has a much more functional forum, but I'm sure they will address the user interface and presentation issues here in time.

Also after making the post above, I was returned to page 1 of the thread, rather than the end of the thread which is more useful.

No video embedding? Really? And the censorship is completely asinine. And so much wasted space.
Also, how the hell do you quote?

This is absolutely horrendous. Every aspect of it.
Just typing this reply is a chore because there is some stupid side scroll bar for no reason, so I can't even read my post without scrolling back and forth.
It's an eyesore in every aspect of the word. You guys tried to get all trendy with the overall look and failed miserably. This look failed with HC 2.0 and it's even more outdated and ugly now. Not to mention, why is the forum itself so **bleep** narrow? NO ONE is using an 800x1200 anymore, yet you've formatted the site as such. Again, going back to the outdated issue.
I lost about 10K posts, which isn't a huge deal, but it does suck.
I said it when 2.0 came out and I'll say it again - Why couldn't you just fix the issues you were having with vBulletin? I see a million other sites that run on that platform and they work flawlessly. Maybe instead of throwing money at a new platform that has "promise" (WTF is up with that? How about one that is tested and works???) you should throw money at competent IT people who understand how to make a forum work. Whoever thought this forum was a good idea should be fired for being completely clueless.
What's up with all the gigantic ads? It's just more stuff for me to try and ignore. The old forum was nice because it jsut had a small banner at the top. It was unobtrusive. Now the top ad is huge AND there's a huge ad at the bottom, as well as one that pops up on the side. This is the stuff that deters people from staying on a forum. I understand HC needs the ad revenue, but it has gone way too far.
Outside of all the technical issues, the old HC was pretty much perfect. It was a simple forum that delivered information in the quickest and easiest way. Everything was laid out clearly and was easy on the eyes. Now it is frustrating to even look at. I doubt I'll be sticking around much longer.

Hit reply, then quote in the top right corner above the edit box. This is an example of what I mean by stupid interface design.

I think that is in your user settings, there is a check box for where you want to be sent and to see when you post and open a thread.
