I think this adds a lot to the cluttered look within each thread. Every post does not need to have the tread title. Just let it be at the top of the page. As it is, it's confusing to the eye when you a scanning down a page going though a thread, and it just looks bad. Please sent it on to oblivion, thank you.
And just an FYI note to anyone who uses Firefox: the HC Stylish mod is very good for the main forum, looks much like the old forum.

I agree that the thread title isn't needed in every reply!

Bump for the soundness of the idea.

Let's try that again

**bleep** folks....it's a touch worse now
I think they changed some code, but it sucketh mightily... If you leave the "Subject" line blank (near the top of the Post Message form) , then the first line of Body Rich Text just shoved in exactly where the old repeated-title used to be...
net is:
Still a waste of space
Utterly useless repetition
send that one back to the drawing boards!!!!!

vBulletin let you change the subject line in a post, and you can do the same thing here. If people use it, it could provide a quicker way to scan through what a post is about.

If it could be upper/lower case, then it wouldn't be screaming for your attention as much.

I dunno, I'd like to see the option to summarize the post, unless no one ends up using it.

It would be nice if we could choose to make a title for our post but it shouldn't do it automatically for every post IMO. Just make it work like the vbulletin forum did.

Craig, the latest issue here is (and this is a bug in my opinion, not a feature) :
if someone removes the text from the Subject line while posting, then the first line they typed into the Body is picked up and used as the Subject line. Not very intuitive, and certainly not what the user had intended.
I just did it here, as an example.

OK I can get on board with the option of using it, but if people choose not to use it, then that space should be left blank by the software. Otherwise this place feels awfully cluttered... and why ALL CAPS? facepalm

Another thought; if the same thing is usually repeated in each title, most users learn to ignore/skip past it - missing when someone types something they actually intend to be read.
Much better to not have a title in each post unless the user specifies so.

ahhhhh....so in psuedocode:
if {old_title =old_title}
then Title_display = Off /for this post
...ie do not print the line...but still give the NEXT poster the option of typing something into the Subject line when they post.

You nailed it. Maybe they just don't know how to turn it off??
