I find I m squinting at it. The white with the light gray is not good.
What was it before ? Blue and black ?
Larger Avatars. fer sure.
Insert Code ? Really ?
The videos post in a funny size.
The graphic separators are ok but stuff is still kind of "not boxed".
Do we have upload places ?
In the past I uploaded an mp3 and it wouldn't post. Can we do that now ?
IS there any indication of threads we might already have posted in ? ( I might be missing it)
I have found that to be a helpful feature.
Anyway, pretty good job guys.
wait a minute...how do you get single line breaks and I get new paragraphs each I time hit the <cr>?
See what I mean?
Really, do you see the difference....I sure do!!!
AHHHH looking at the HTML, it looks like you're getting a <br> aka "break" at each line-end and I'm getting a <p> aka paragraph....lemme guess, this is defined in somewhere intuitive like the user-preferences?
OK....maybe I should just break out an old Vi editor here?? ....jeebus crepes on a hot griddle!!!!

I don't know.
I just type. And hit the return key now and again
Sometimes I like some space.
If you are mocking me, it's going right over my head.
I mean I just barely got this text outside the quote of your post.
But seriously I just took a look at the user prefs and none of that is in there.
But it has a thing for macros. What would I use that for ?

I remember in the HC2.0 I could put a clip or image right from my computer to my post. I LOVED that feature. I didn't have to post it elsewhere and link it or insert it or resize it or convert it....nothing. I could just take a clip and put it right in the post. I really liked that. I wish I could do that again as I am a prolific creative force and interaction is the very air I breathe. I'm seriously, I"m trying to be breathing over here.

Not mocking you at all...in the first quoted post, there are different HTML characters than in your most recent one...that's all I was trying to point out...and I like the style of the first one ( a personal thing).
I've got no idea what Macros is about.

FWIW, the small size of the avatars was something I commented about very early on in the development process. I know that a lot of people identify other users by their avatars - for some, they rely on that even moreso than screen names, and as it is now, IMO, they're too small to easily do that.
I'm definitely in favor of returning them to the same size we had on the vB site. In fact, as Craig and I have repeatedly said since the beginning, the more that this site looks and feels like the previous site, but with actual performance improvements (no database errors, page timeouts, etc.) the better. While I'm happy that there are cool new features available here, and that this site can do things the old one couldn't, I think the focus needs to be on that core look, feel and functionality, and that the other features should be addressed, added and / or refined only after those essential core items are in place and looking / working the way we want them to.
To me, that includes things like:
Making the text darker - yes, darker still. It's still too light of a shade of grey.
Making the subject line wider. Replies, New, Author, Kudos, Views and Latest Post fields can use a smaller font and / or be much narrower IMO. I'm glad those fields are there, but the subject line should get the space priority.
Turning off, or greatly dialing back the smut filter. If it can be set as a user option, even better, but as it is now, if your name is Richard and you want to use the most common nickname that goes along with that, you get bleeped. That's just ridiculous.
Making the avatars larger.
Creating a single, master list of forums somewhere that is easily accessible to one and all. I don't dislike the current navigation, but there should be a master forum list in one single spot for those who prefer accessing them that way.
Obviously there's more I could list, but that's the general idea. Again, IMHO, the more it can look and feel like the old forums, the better. Once that's established, then we can add, tweak, and improve to make it even better.
I was on my way back to the feedback forum to beat the longer thread title drum again -- those short thread titles are simply ABSURD.
There seems to be some quite good technology driving the Lithium system -- performance has, overall, been sharp.
But I cannot understand for the life of me why they don't have a grip on the sorts of things that make a forum software system useful and enjoyable to use.
You might think it's because -- in the customer support role Lithium is obviously actually designed for -- the prime goal is to get the customer in and out without ticking him off any more than necessary.
That's very different than trying to create a friendly, relaxing, easy to use 'hang out' type of environment.
And, just as with the previous company (disatrously) hired to attempt to redo the boards, these guys just don't seem to understand the use scenario here.
Happily, their core technology seems a much better fit, or this implementation was better conceived. The performance is, overall, quite good.
And the first flurry of changes after roll-out was, indeed, fast and covered a lot of much-needed fixes.
But we've still got a ways to go.
Please don't let these guys think their job is done. Because it most definitely is not.

By the way...
I didn't take the suggestion seriously at first, but after I finally switched my font size up and used page zoom (ctrl-scroll wheel or from a menu) to zoom the page out and push the blue sidebars off the screen -- I have found the site far more enjoyable. The print's a little big -- but the font displays far more cleanly and smoothly on my system.
And, with the font bigger, the difference between normal weight and bold is a little more obvious -- which is super important as the site stands, since the fashion-conscious folks in charge of the site CSS (styling code) apparently were down at the campus bar the day prof discussed usability. That's my guess -- since they apparently think simply bolding something will tip people to the fact that there's a link there.
I guess they never counted on anyone actually using BOLD for anything but links. LOFL
Again, where did these people come up with these wack notions?
UNDERLINES are still the best and most universally accepted way to signify a link when the context doesn't make the link nature obvious (like a menu).
Yes, they don't look 'cool' -- but they are OBVIOUS and USABLE by everyone and you don't have to bust your eyeballs trying to figure out the font-weighting to try to suss what's a link and what's not.
This is something that should take changing a single line of CSS code to change in user posts. (Maybe a couple, as they apparently have a taxonomic differentiation between topic-starting posts and 'comments' on those posts. (It's common, although most BB developers try to make the OP posts and replies as similar in interface and use as possible.)
In fact, I've already got so tired of people missing the links I had inserted into posts (even posts I didn't pepper with bolding) that I've taken to manually putting an underline on all my links in posts.
The user should NOT have to perform kludges to make up for the usability-defying conceits of the stylers.
