I'm guessing this is the equivalent of the old public view on a User Profile.

I cliciked on a username, right above their avatar, just to learn a little more about them.

What I got had no info on Name, Location, Hobbies....all the stuff we are asked to entered.

What I did get was expanded lists (UGH!!) of their recent Kudos (both given and received) and an Activity List which showed all the threads they've been participating in, their frequency, etc.

AND IT SHOWED ME A LIST OF THEIR PMs, Including the PM TITLE and the SENDER, who happened to be a Moderator around here. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the P in PM stood for Personal, or perhaps Private, CERTAINLY NOT PUBLIC.

I could be wrong here, but I doubt it.

You'd better blank out PM traffic in publicly-visible User Profiles, pronto....This is a high-level bug, in the world of internet privacy rules, blahblahblah.

I just looked at the "About username" thing again and found out it is even more bizarre!!!

The PM listed in THEIR "About <username" page was a PM IN MY MAILBOX. But it was appended to the page "About" them!!!! This is crazy. I mean, "By golly, it looks like Dan just got the same PM from Phil that I did!"

So there must be errant code that would put PM content in a publicly-viewable "About" profile page (this is not appropriate) AND the code somehow used the VIEWERS username to go get the PM info.

A) there should be NO public display of PM stuff.

B) get a coder who can differentiate between two variables of similar type.

It looks like personal information (name, location, hobbies, etc.) is set to be viewed by no one by default.  If you want people to see it you have to enable that.  It seems the exception to this is "Biography" which says it is always public and searchable.  The PM thing is weird but it doesn't look like it's in public view.  I didn't see anything when I wasn't logged in.

ok, so there might be a legit block on info. Anyone have it unblocked, so I can see what it looks like?

Qalso, the PM thing is just wrong.

I haven't been able to conceive of a situation in which I want to see my PM contents while viewing someone elses Profile (or Biography, or whateveritscalled). That's just un-needed/un-desireable functionality.

I made my info viewable to everyone but haven't filled anything in yet.  My list of friends seems to be public now though.  I'll fill in some of it so check it in a few minutes.  There is a field called "Title"  I filled that in earlier with "Mega Super Terrific Contributor" but that title didn't show up anywhere.  Not sure what that's all about.

I complained about the Title thing in another thread here also...seems to be unused data at this time. I wonder if they were trying to put a caption on pics? Or maybe it is an inhereted Class Function that shouldn't be inherited? Wouldn't be the first time.
