Scheduled maintenance

Is there a scheduled maintenance time for HC? It was a bit annoying not to be able to post for a while. I realize that this is a free site so I'm trying not to be critical. But in light of the problems we had prior to the transition, it would be nice to know. Thanks.

Neither Phil nor I have any clue as to what happened. I've asked IT to tell me what the problem was, but haven't heard back.

There are now eight music videos posted on my YouTube channel, including a cover of "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," which joins "Little Pieces", "Black Market Daydreams," and "When the Grid Goes Down" (complete with disturbing video )

Re: Scheduled maintenance

^^^ What happened doesn't really matter to me at this point. I'm thankful that, for the most part, the forums are up and running properly. I've worked in IT for many, many years. This is a large migration with a HUGE user base. There will be some bumps. Some people won't like the new format. But such is life. You are looking for feedback and answering questions. I appreciate that.

But I'm wondering if it wouldn't make sense to schedule maintenance in the future and, where possible, announce the outage times. Outages happen occasionally. I expect and accept that. I'm just thinking that maybe unexpected downtime can be averted if the databases are regularly maintained.

The moderation team has been excellent during this transition IMHO. My thanks go out to you and the rest of the team. This is nothing like the 2.0 migration. And that's a very good thing.

Re: Scheduled maintenance

We found out what the problem was. It was human error in the admin console by an admin person (not me or Phil, thankfully). I must say Lithium was great - as soon as they found out about the problem, they tracked it down and fixed it within minutes. I think they've really held up their end of the bargain by providing a stable, fast hardware platform.
