And FWIW, the small avatar size was something I specifically commented on during the development and predicted that some in the community would be unhappy with this size. I honestly don't know if they'll be able to make them larger or not - I think that small size is a default Lithium thing, but it doesn't hurt to ask, and the more of you that it matters to, the more likely they are to consider it, or make it a priority.

I've seen other Lithium based websites wher the avatars are 64x36 (ours are 36x36).
Seems like 64x64 would be feasible (assuming litium can scale both vertically and horizontally)
Larger would be better.
Is this "issue"due to mobile app compatability? Avatars are not massive loads on the system. It really shouldn't matter if they are up to 120 or 150sqr...this is still tiny compared to the data contained in one .jpg
