Macros - a brief tutorial, please?

There's a section over in My Settings called "Macros".

This sounds interesting.

But there is absolutely no hint as to it's capabilities, what language to use, what can be put in there.

There is nothing about Macros in the -Help section.

Please, it looks like fun....are we still too green to play with them?

Macros are mini apps that zip through sequences you'd otherwise do manually, step by step. If you already know this, there's very little to post at, TS. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Macros - a brief tutorial, please?

I guess what I need is the syntax that's to be typed in...are we talking HTML, or ?

I've written hundreds of Macros in the IC design and PCB design world, but they all used an application-specific set of commands...we don't have "commands" as such here, so I'm assuming it's HTML (since that's how stuff is stored, I guess).  Or it could be done via their executable/functions , but that would require a knowledge of the site's guts like 'lia-search-input-message' and all the stuff that I really don't think they want me messing with.

Macro test

[ Edited ]

I'd like to use them for smilies:

I put that code in my macros but haven't figured out how to "trigger" them yet?

EDIT> Never mind, once you save your macros they appear next to the "quote" button  .

Works great :smileyhappy: ! Having only three sux though  .

Re: Macro test

So the macros are for quick-typing stuff you write often? I'd wanted to be able to use them to automate certain forum movements (ie quick access to the FX forum from any place). But I suppose this could come in handy too. A couple of days ago, having a macro that wrote "the reviews will be ported over in a week or two" would have been nice :smileyhappy:
