I have actually made a few 'local' friends via that functionality...sadly it is no longer here.
I second the request to add 'location' to the data that can be (user-optionally) displayed, sub-avatar.

Isn't it ridiculous? Who the hell designed this thing? Knowing where the poster is sometimes plays a huge part in interpreting their intentions or motivations.
Who the hell designed this thing? FAIL times a thousand.

Yes, showing the poster's location is very useful - it is sometimes essential in giving correct advice (mains voltage differences do matter). It can't be too hard to implement, as long as the data is available.

Agreed. Without it eveyone just assumes you live in the U.S.
Whether a poster is in America, New Zealand, Japan, the UK, or Sweden is often extremely useful info.

The out-of-the-box version of the poster information doesn't include this, so I assume it'd be some sort of customization to get it in place, but I'm running it up the flagpole.

We all probably need a little prodding. We're trying, we really are!
And...the bad news is that if you sent me your cattle prod, you might not get it back. I've got too many uses for it--and that's just at work! ![]()

Right now clicking on a user name brings up anything the user has provided. Even if you're not logged.

Yup.
That's where location, location resides. Which, in your case, and with most user's profiles IME, has been spoofed.
That "even when you're not logged-in" part is a problem for me too. But way down the list.

This describes a pretty severe security violation for our users...it allows all kinds of dangerous lurking and personal data collection, by totally undocumented users.
This should be elevated to the Gotta Do Right Now level.
It is basic to User Safety and Privacy.
