This super white is blinding.  A  grey background with a yellowish font color would be a huge improvement IMO.   You could keep the blues, blacks and whites mixed in.

Good background in that example (billiards), but I'd like a slightly darker font over there.

I was thinking of kind of a darker grey background with a yellowish font.  Still have whites, blues, blacks and even reds mixed in.  Makes for easy reading over the super white that IMO gets fairly hard on the eyes after a while.
