Home page preferences don't do anything

I been to My Settings > Preferences > Home Page and changed the options to turn on

  • Show the latest post for subscriptions and bookmarks

And turn off 

  • Show the latest topics
  • Show the latest posts

This has made no difference to what shows up on my home page, not even if I log out and log in again.

I'm noticing the same thing.   I've made a few changes in "preferences"---number of posts per page, something about "scroll-overs",---nothing is any different.  ???

Looks like there are some useful customisation options HERE (My Settings > Preferences > Home page) but changing them doesn't do anything to change the home page.

Any chance of a fix ?
