You may want to go easy on Craig and Phil, from what I read I think it's pretty unlikely that the current state of the forum can be blamed on them.
From what I've read, I'd infer it's much more likely that someone in a position of power let the old site degrade (from the performance point of view) to the point where replacing it became an emergency. Craig and Phil I'm pretty sure are on your side.

The info was there in the feedback forum, but it's now hard to find. Here's a summary from memory. (Phil & Craig please correct if necessary).
Seems to me Phil and Craig are pretty much like you and me with two or three exceptions:

So these guys wanna leave there name on this? but claim they're not involved. Clever
to lazaraga:
Have you ever tried to make a bad situation better, or do you simply walk away from everything that doesn't smell like roses? Have you ever made a committment to maintain and improve, even in the face of adversity?
You're painting with an overly wide, ill-informed brush.
If you feel you have the prerogitive to afix blame here, I suggest you aim a little higher in the management tree.
You really aren't adding much to the conversation here, and your misinformed statements are just perpetuating 'internet-falsehoods'.
What you are doing is counterproductive.

This isn't lazaraga's pet project. This is one of many music forums available to the denizens of earth. In fact, quite some time ago now, it used to be the best.
Given that people have choices... why would someone hang around somewhere they found unpleasant, when they could go somewhere else that more suits their needs?
Hanging around here, post changeover, doesn't make you some sort of hero... it's not admirable... it does not make you a martyr... it makes you a sucker. Trying to white knight others into staying, as though it is some sort of quest of honor, makes you an idiot.
If McDonald's switched over from using beef for their hamburgers to soylent green, would you continue to eat there everyday because "you just know deep down inside" that Ronald and Grimace won't let you down, and if you give them a decade or two, they might be able to make the processed human flesh taste "kind of like" an actual McDonald's hamburger? Would you go on the interwebz and try to convince us all that it's not as bad as it, in fact, is, and that we owe some debt of gratitude to Mayor McCheese for being such a fantastic mayor?
or do you just go to Burger King instead?

+1 to all of that. You don't have to look hard to figure out where to apportion the blame (count the adverts you now see).

So, you're still hanging around here - what are you trying to say about yourself again?

My name is on the content I create. I am proud of it and I am highly involved in creating content for this site, as well as for a variety of other media. I also contribute posts that I hope people will find either useful, interesting, or on occasion, snarky enough to provide a source of amusement.
I am not involved in site design any more than the people who are in site design write articles about how to make amp sims sound more organic, or edit NAMM videos. We all have our jobs to do. If you have a problem with the articles, videos, or posts I create, then tell me what those problems are so there can be a discussion that would hopefully lead to their eventual improvement.

And a P.S. - I realize "forum-centric" people tend to discount the content aspect of the site. HC has had both content and forum elements since Scott and Wilson started the site. Traditionally, the forums have been 50% of the site's traffic, and content has been the other 50%. The content side, even with the 2.0 structure, got millions of hits every month, and was linked in to frequently by other sites, schools, manufacturers, other internet forums, etc. Even our YouTube channel, which isn't part of the forums or even part of the site, has over 9,000,000 views.

Straw men, slippery slopes and ad hominem... nice foundation for a viewpoint.
Try an intelligent stance, for a change.

...and now for my more-intelligent reply:
Yep. It's just a forum. I've been a member since 2001, and it'd be nice to see it survive. So I am trying to be positive and offer them some helpful hints. That's isn't being a hero or a martyr. It's a little more like being a friend. Are you familiar with the concept?
You mention "why would someone hang around somewhere they found unpleasant". So one would reasonably ask, why are you here. If it is unpleasant, why hang on? Why spend time here? Go. It's ok. It's your choice to make/ So make it.
You McDonald/BK 'analogy' really doesn't have any function other than to peg you demographically. No further comment is necessary there.
My original comment to lazaraga was to stimulate him/her/it to look at how they deal with adversity: do they try to make thingsbetter, or are they just another naysayer who likes to complain/complain//complain.
