It seems like pages are taking far longer to load than they were yesterday. Is there some of back-end process (archiving etc.) going on, and can we expect it to get better (or worse)?
I'm on a pretty decent web connection here and other sites seem to be loading as quickly as ever.
The one thing the new software had going for it at launch was that it was snappy as all get-out.
Hopefully this isn't a sign of more performance issues to come .

I personally would like to see page loads take less than 10 seconds at full load. Unfortunately I'm seeing that now every once in a while and we're only at maybe 5% load at most? Let's hope they can throw more servers and bandwidth at it as things ramp up .

I was over on the PlayStation dite when 500 users were logged in...not sure how active they were, but 500 is a sizeable #... I was getting consistant loadtimes of less than 3 seconds.
Now for the intersting stuff:
The PlayStation site is funded by Sony...who can throw servers at it like Kenny Stabler threw passes.
That's to say, Sony can afford to toss in a ton of hardware to make their site fly.
This site, however is funded by Guitar Center, who is in a challenging financial phase.
GC has already handed over the physical hosting to Lithium. Which means GC will be watching the relationship of traffic-to-traceable-sales very closely,,. if they sense a good hit ratio, they may be enticed into 'leasing' bigger/broader/more-agile servers to serve more
customers, er suckers, er jimi-crack-korn wankers, er users to come on in and play...but performance upgrades will be triggered based on sales...site-linked sales, for that matter.
So if you want to get better hardware, post at a mild-to-moderate pace, but buy a few damn picks a nd strings and maybe a pedal from GC... that will make them more likely to continue on with this site, and underwrite the cost of decent servers.
One thing is for sure... you don't wanna be around here if the site (and GC) goes into receivership. Not pretty. Not pretty at all.

It was likey you hit the site during a time we were synching our staging and production servers. We had a lot of forward facing and backend updates go live today and while the primary push is in the wee hours of the morning, there were a few enhancements that got pushed during the day.

Sorry Ryan, but it's actually slower today than yesterday.
It's time to run some performance benchmarks...it IS slowing down. There's another/newer thread about this. Perhaps you should take a look:

Well, let's not panic - yet. There's plenty of time to do that later LOL.
"When in trouble, when in doubt - run around, scream and shout"
My concern is that hey didn't seem to realize it....if they said, "yes, we know we have performance problems and we think we have a handle on it", then I might be less concerned. But Ryan's response seeemed to indicate they hadn't noticed, or hadn't thought to check a 'good' version.
