Quoting in the new software is done a bit differently than it was in vBulletin or Jive (HC 2.0). You've probably noticed that there is no quote button next to every post. So how do you quote anything?
Click "reply" in the bottom right hand corner of the post that you want to reply to and quote. In the reply box that opens up, clicking on Quote (blue box, right next to the spell check box in the upper right hand corner of the reply box) will enter a quote into the reply box.
You can edit the quote to remove extraneous material that you don't want to focus on or have cluttering up your post, and you can hit the quote button multiple times and repeat that edit proceedure on each "copy" if you want to divide the message up so you can respond to various parts of it separately within a single reply post.
Unfortunately, Lithium currently does not support multiquote, although it does do stringed quotes, so if you quote someone who quoted someone else, both will show up. Lithium does seem to recognize the usefulness of multiquote, and we've requested that they add that feature, and hope that they will do so in a upcoming software revision.
For smartphone mobile users, there is a link at the bottom of the page that allows you to view the site in Full view mode instead of Mobile. Using that will allow you access to the quote function. Otherwise, it's unavailable on the much more stripped down and stramlined mobile view.
While tablet uses see a page layout that is essentially identical to a laptop or desktop user, unfortunately there is a bug, and the quote button is missing from tablet view - at least for iPad users. I've already reported this to the folks at Lithium, and hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Hope this helps some of you. We'll try to get a FAQ going, and if you have any suggestions or found anything that others might find useful or helpful, please feel free to post it here.

Craig's "getting started" video should probably be in here too.

Including all the quotes though is annoying. A quote should only include the last reply, not all the quotes leading up to it. No other BBS that I know of does it this way.

The Lithium software supports user assigned, individual "stickies" ("floated" threads in Lithium-speak). Not only can the moderators assign Float status to threads for all viewers of the forum, but you, as individuals, can float threads that interest you to the top so you can more easily find them later.
I used an alt (ban me!
) and tested it, and it does indeed work! In addition to whatever stickies ("floated threads") I (and the other moderators) create, you all can set up your own individual, personalized sticky ("floated") threads. Here's how:
Select the thread you want to float by clicking on it. Once it loads, at the top of the page, on the left hand side (right next to the blue "Reply" button) you'll see "Topic Options". Click on that, and in the dropdown menu that appears, select "Float this Topic to the Top." That's it! The thread will now be stickied at the top of the forum until you decide to unstick it.
To unstick / unfloat a thread, the proceedure is basically the same, except you select Un-Float This Topic.
The Topic Options menu is also where you can subscribe to a thread, get the RSS feed, bookmark it, etc.

Type your search query into the field indicated in the screen shot (below).
There's also the advanced search functions, which can be called up by clicking on the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner of the page, right next to the search box. Whatever thread you're in, it should be located in the same place.
Also, an instructional video on how to operate a forum? What does that indicate?

As I said in another post, maybe you should have retained the appearance of the last forum, while rehauling the structure. Very few people would have complained if the forum looked exactly the same, but just worked better. But I guess these site builders want to make money by selling complete redesigns, and all the stupid graphics and bells and whistles that go with it.
And as I have said repeatedly, that was our intention from the very beginning. Craig, Jon and I know full well what a mess the HC 2.0 debacle was, and we had no intention of repeating that. However, the software on the old site and the lack of any significant IT support conspired against us. It just became totally unusable. So in order to stop putting everyone through endless timeouts, pages that failed to load, database errors and all the rest of what we were experiencing, we decided to launch this site earlier than we had originally intended, knowing full well that it wasn't completely finished and didn't have all the design and features set up the way we wanted.
Craig and I have repeatedly told all involved that this site should look and (as much as possible) function like the old one. While there are new features and capabilities here that I think people will eventualy really come to appreciate (like the personal stickies I mentioned above), the main thing is that THIS SITE WORKS. The old one didn't. With everyone's help and feedback, we'll get all the layout, features and design details figured out, but while we're doing so, you'll all have forums that you can at least post to without the frustration of it failing more often than not. Plus, you can tell us what you do and don't like as we go along, which will hopefully make the site more to everyone's liking in the long run.
Launching early isn't ideal, but we felt it was the best option available to us under the circumstances. We would have much rather stuck with the original plan, which was to get the forum design all set up, have the moderators and some well respected forum members come in and test it all and give their feedback, then refine and polish until it was ready for prime time.

I tried switching to Full view on my phone (running Safari on iOS 6.1) but didn't find the quote button. In fact, the text editor in Full view looked very much like the one I get on the iPad (no Rich Text stuff, emoticons etc). It seems there's a third limbo version of the site - not the slimmed down mobile version, but not quite the full site either - reserved for iOS users...
And before you ask
I'm typing this on the laptop - I wanted to see what the proper editor looked like.

No two ways about it, it indicates a massive UI fail.

I like the string-quote thing; it allows everyone else to see the context of the quote along with the response.

Quoting works fine in Android Chrome. Posting this from my Asus Transformer Prime.

Kind of.
When I deleted the extraneous material from the beginning of your quote, the remaining text crowded right up against "Phil O'Keefe wrote:" In order to make it more legible, I tried to put a line of blank space in with the enter key, and ended up with two quote boxes as you can see. I cannot make them join into a single quote box.
About half the time (completely randomly) after editing a blue quote box, I cannot get the cursor to appear here in this white space below the quote box where I am typing now. The only option in that case is to back out of the response (which triggers the uber-annoying "do you want to leave this page" dialog) and try again.

I see that cursor-location problem w/about the same frequency.
My current, horrible workaround is to hit the bullet-list widget, which always seems to force the cursor's edit-focus into the Rich Text box...then I hit "Enter" once more on the empty, top line to delete the bullet... then I can go on typing. Major pain, and just screams of sloppy coding....just about as bad as the HTML-error after entering a Rich Text reply (no HTML involved).... someone with some knowledge of either pointer maintence or memory allocation issues needs to steer these folks clear of the rocks.
I hope no one there at Lithium has a pilot's license.

Lot's of geek-speak about how to quote in the new format. It was user-friendly, intuitive, in the old VBulliten, and no time consuming hoops to jump through.

Since I was asked again tonight, here's a brief tutorial on how to post images.
Here's how to post pictures.
There are some differences in what you do, depending on if the picture is on your local hard drive, or if it's online somewhere.
First, click on the "tree" icon.
If the image you want to upload is on your local drive, click on the "Browse" button. Or, if it's online, click on "From another site" instead.
If you click on "Browse", a file system box will open up that allows you to search your local system for the image you want to upload. Using that, locate the image you want, and select it. Then click on "Open."
If the image you want to upload is located online, after clicking on "From Another Site" (instead of "Browse"), enter the URL for the image in the box. Then click "Load Image."
You'll have to give the image a title - anything will work - even just a single comma or period, and you can reuse the title for multiple images. Frankly, I think the need for an image name is superfluous, and I'd like to see if we can get that removed, but for the time being, you'll need to enter something in the Image Title box.
Then click "Insert Image." This puts the image into the rich text editor / post / reply box at the current cursor location.
In the screenshot below, the boxes for "Load Image" and "Insert Image" are much lighter than they will appear after you Insert the URL and load the image.
For files on your local computer, that screen looks a bit different, but it's the same basic idea. The good news here is that the file name is inserted automatically, so there's no need to enter an Image Title if the image is being uploaded from your computer.

By using the given tools in the "Rich Text" editor, any innocent user
that wants to post a picture from another website,
unknowingly lets this forum`s software change the image`s URL
(and hence the location from where the image is being shown here)
from the original site to the HC-site`s server.
To show an example, I posted 2 pics in one post in the following thread:
where the upper image (right-click on the pic, and check the properties...) which was inserted with the Forum`s automated Rich Text-editor`s tool, seems to be "owned"
by Harmony-Central:
whereas the same identical picture below, was inserted by hand in a rather complicated, user-unfriendly way with the HTML-editor, so that the original
URL= http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu335/puretube/
(and hence the ownership, in this case), when right-clicked to check (or to copy) the properties.
The mere fact that most users will use the "Rich Text"-editor to post pics,
could IMHO lead to immense trouble for H-C,
if IP-aware copyright-owners find out that their images are being re-posted from a different website...
