I was able to upload custom avatars until last night when the process began failing every time it came to the resize/crop step.
Of course, the resize/crop has NEVER worked right (since I've been here), as the image it shows in the resize area has nothing to do with what you will get.
But now it fails completely every time with this error:

FWIW, it worked for me a moment ago.

Still broken for me as of today.
It had worked for me early on.
I suppose I'll have to try another browser, but it seems like something is broken in each of them here (thanks in part to the new round of browser wars sparked by the abnegation of standards agreements and the adtoption of proprietary extensions by a key player -- a key player who can't even make a decent browser, but insist on being able to make their own rules).
So far, bad as it is, Chrome has proved to be the most reliable for browsing HC3.0. But that's none too.

UPDATE: By installing and switching to Opera, I was actually able to upload my own avatar.
Unfortunately, on this site (and maybe others), Opera seems to have a very nasty habit of simply disappearing entirely, right in the middle of what you were doing, often in the middle of moving the cursor.
It's very unsettling.
I'd been thinking that Opera had fixed some of the problems that made me drop it last time -- but it seems like it's still a bit buggy.
Not unlike the current, unstable Chrome. But at least they haven't been abandoned, as MS did with IE for XP users (who still number about 1/3 of computer users, to MS's great chagrin -- apparently they see success as failure and, as we all know, failure's no success at all).
