Honestly, I can't see why it was created in the first place. This seems to be the ill-conceived idea of some marketing "genius"...

O.P.: PRS makes nice guitars IMHO and while many here may that hate them with a passion, what's wrong with the sponsor of this site, HC trying to make a little money?
What did you pay to post here?
You're not paying for the running of this forum, HC is.
If you don't like advertising associated with HC forums, go buy them out and YOU pay the money to run it.

It wasn't paid advertising. Musician's Friend had nothing to do with it. And if Fender or Gibson opened up their doors to us, we'd go there.
The Factory Tour thread in this forum has close to 5,000 page views, and the other main thread has over 1,500. Just because some people insist on seeing evil motives doesn't reduce the interest of the people who've enjoyed a look into how these guitars are made. Besides, I already commented on this in the main thread:
"Any kind of media likes exclusives. PRS is a big name in the industry, we got an exclusive look, we're going to do something with it. Besides, these "topical" forums don't last forever, any more than the NAMM or AES discussion forums last forever...they're of the moment, they're interesting, people look at 'em, we move on. That's why we have the section for Archived forums: The material is still available, but doesn't interrupt the regular flow.
The factory tour thread has well over 3,400 page views, so obviously, a lot of people are digging it. This complements the video factory tours over in the Theater...we have a ton of them, and they get a lot of downloads. If there's one thing we've learned by scrutinzing the site stats, it's that people like trade show, artist, and factory tour videos.
I can also guarantee you that if the factory tour thread here had gotten 100 page views instead of thousands, it would already have been archived We go with the flow...we used to have four international forums, but only the Spanish one took off, so we kept that are deleted the rest.
When page views for the factory tour start falling off, this forum will make the short trip to archive-land. Fair enough?"
Last week we discussed whether it was time to archive this but we felt there were still enough new page views to keep it up another week or two. Note that in the last three weeks, the factory tour thread got approximately 1,400 page views.
And there's no law that says forums have to stay up forever or deal with timeless topics. The Pro Reviews have been extremely successul and so have the Trade Show forums. They get archived eventually.
I realize that my sitting there holding a gun to your head saying "You must click on this and watch the factory tour over and over" may be disconcerting, though, so I'll stop doing that

Thanks, but there's been other respected members voice their opposite opinion as to this forum's existence
You have made your decision....it's good to be king.
I guess PRS is lucky to have such a fan.
BTW- I don't understand why a company has to "invite you in" to get a forum.
