not sure if this is off topic, can we say the guitarist from the B-52s was one of the first famous people to die from the AIDS?

so they cured 1 baby with AIDS, obviously more patients need to be cured before they say it is a cure and not some fluke. 

Bono was right!  he always talked about  a tipping point when the number of AIDS victims starts to decline, I forget why but the maths and new medicines proved this out. But this is bigger than that even.

there's no reason to believe that this treatment is useful for anything other than babies born with HIV. It's a cute of very limited utility, especially in the parts of the world where babies are born with AIDS because the mother could not afford medication.

I sure hope they find a cure for everyone suffering, especially for those who contracted it before we knew how it was transmitted.  It's on the decline down under, regardless of the idiots having sex without protection.  Really though, you have to be a half wit to have sex with someone without protection in this day and age.

Or you could just be one of the billions of people in Africa, India, China, or the Bible Belt where conservatives refuse to educate young people about AIDS and condoms.

While there is some truth to the above, I have watched documentaries where many people in those countries are aware of what they might be subjected to far as disease, but put it down to a lifestyle and take their chances.  Not smart.

it says on the box that condoms are known to increase the risk of aids. and they found this to be true. The reason is people who use condoms take more risks and have a lot more sexual partners so any benefit to using condoms is cancelled out. The only way to not get aids is to never have sex, or only have sex with 1 partner that has been tested. But the use of condoms enjoys people the freedom to have sex with everyone and anyone without thinking of the consequences. condoms are regulated by the FDA and they test them, they find on average 1 in 100 break. 

its similar to why sunblock causes more cancer. People use sunblock and then stay in the sun for much longer and more often than if they didnt use sunblock.

Okay, I get that but condoms don't contribute to aids, people who engage in sexual activity have increased chances of contracting aids, not the same thing.  Put it this way, I'd bet that people with similar lifestyles who engaged in sexual activity without condoms have a higher rate of contracting aids than those who use them.  You need similar control groups or its bogus.

Mozambique's Roman Catholic archbishop has accused European condom manufacturers of deliberately infecting their products with HIV "in order to finish quickly the African people".

The archbishop of Maputo, Francisco Chimoio, told the BBC that he had specific information about a plot to kill off Africans. "I know that there are two countries in Europe ... Making condoms with the virus, on purpose," he alleged. But he refused to name the countries.

He added: "They want to finish with the African people. This is the programme. They want to colonise until up to now. If we are not careful we will finish in one century's time."

Also, the almighty and infallible Pope Benedict also declared that the use of condoms in Africa has increased the spread of Aids, so it must be true.

No worries, my humor is pretty dark.  Joking about Aids and all.  I'm aware that some really do believe that condoms cause Aids, and that is so absurd that I had to joke about it.

At the moment yes. But it's certainly something, and maybe a step in the right direction for a more widely applicable cure.
