I'm wondering if I should plop down the $60 to go see him when he rolls through in October. The venue kicks ass and it should be a total no-brainer, but I'm uber poor. I'd say go if you have the means.

I saw him quite awhile ago with Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson on the first G3 Tour. Steve was brilliant and a great showman to boot.

I have. I have seen him 5 times. Every time has been amazing. His band is always amazing. He has a fun show. I'm going to the Chicago show.

You had rows!? standing room on the floor at mine. I think I remember getting pretty close. Cinderella opened for him. Never seen such big hair in my life. Dave was fucking drunk right from the get go....good show though...that was a monster band he had.

saw him on the first G3 with Petrucci and on the Real Illusions tour, right before he started to look like an old Jewish lady. Hell of a great guitarist and a very nice guy at the meet and greet.

I too saw him with DLR on the Eat 'Em Smile tour. He and Mr. Sheehan work extremely well together. Great player and the stage show was enjoyable in that context, but I don't think I'd care to see him now. Besides there being a lot of tunes of his I'm not familiar with, I find his current antics too campy and not to my liking. I reserve the right to dismiss this notion were he to tour with Keneally in his band again or were he to tour with ZPZ. Right now I'd go see ZPZ and/or Keneally well before rejecting an offer to see Vai. Amazing player and all around stellar musician though. You should go see him.

I haven't seen him yet but would like to. Been listening to Fire Garden a lot lately and really digging the fusion influences.
