The factory in Japan where they were making them got flooded or something. They are coming back this spring, I believe I heard shipping in April. Made in Mexico now.

I've also been looking for a So-Cal.

I have a purple MIA San Dimas 2 I am thinking about putting up on the Ebay now that they are making them in Mexico.

Unless I'm mistaken, they announced a new line of USA-made San Dimas models at NAMM...

They are back in North America, but not the USA. They did have some pretty custom shop axes that were made in America.

Has anyone compared the US versions to the ones from Japan?  Do they feel or sound different at all?  It would be interesting to compare those two to the Mexico ones.

I've heard that the MIM models will have recessed Floyds.

Got a red MIJ that I just posted in the For Sale forum. AWESOME guitar that I wish I could keep, but just can't do it at this time.

As far as comparisons to the MIA, I've had both and felt that the MIJ actually edged out the American made. The neck felt better and the finish was holding up nicer. From what I've read on other forums, I'm not alone in this thinking.
