User/Pro reviews, where are they on the new site ?

They're coming. Anderton had a post about it a couple of days ago. They are still working on other things at this stage.

Try the wayback machine on the internet archives it's real slow and the links sometimes don't work, but at least it has some content, which is more than I can say about this sorry excuse for a website. I don't understand the people who run this site, but everytime there is an upgrade things get worse.
Some advice don't go live until you are ready. A sluggish site with content is better than one with none. Simplicity ,funtionality and content is what makes websites great. This site has none of that.
By the way this problem is not "solved" until the reviews are actually available to the public. The reviews are my only reason to visit hc. I suspect that once again a lot of the database will be corrupted and a majority of the reviews will vanish. Sigh
Maybe the people that are running this nightmare should take a look at the old site on the internet archives wayback machine and learn from your mistakes.

I'm not sure that everyone would totally agree with that. The last few weeks before the upgrade the site was largely unavailable.

Word! It was beyond sluggish, it was totally dysfunctional.

No joke, seriously. I rarely hit the forums or other stuff. The reviews are where it's at. I've contributed a few and they take time. Lots of the reviews I've read were done with time, care and expertise. I just stopped in to see reviews on some microphones I was considering ordering (pl-44s on musician's friend going for 50 bucks), but wanted to see how other EV smobs liked 'em.
This was an asset to your site. Seems like you guys would've worked to preserve those before swapping. How many people here consult the reviews before picking up some old, obscure gear or even determine how much it's really worth? This was a bad move on y'alls part. Bring 'em back or somebody else will take up the slack for you.

Oh and I totally enjoyed starting a new account since my old one seemingly does not exist.

No reviews ? This site sux bigtime................
03-05-2013 04:38 PM
Agreed. This was a great, informative, and helpful site with the user reviews. Without the user reviews I will go elsewhere and not return to harmonycentral

Yep, epic fail not having the reviews up yet, if ever...
03-06-2013 01:38 PM
Plus they still show up in google searches, but you can't access 'em..
Music radar has some nice reviews, but are they as thorough and objective as a whole web community of players? I doubt it...

The user reviews were a tremendous asset in HC 1.0. After the upgrade to HC 2.0 some years ago so much was lost.
Despite numerous emails and PMs I (RockNote) still cannot log in. Somebody tell me what the hell is going on at HC?? If I didn't know any better, I would predict this is a business on the verge of collapse.

Most responsible businesses advertise a target date and then work hard to hit it. Not HC - How difficult is it to pull over the prior reviews to the new site? If this was really a website by musicians for musicians, it would have been done weeks ago. ADVERTISERS TAKE NOTE - I HAVE LITTLE OTHER REASON TO COME TO THIS WEBSITE if the reviews are not present, and am getting frustrated with this site for a second time since its inception. HC is becoming one of the few places on the web with a stellar beginnings that has become less useful and more difficult to navigate as time goes on. What a shame.......

We launched the site "early" because we felt it was better to have an incomplete site that worked than one that didn't work at all half the time. As far as the reviews (Pro / User / Expert), they're definitely coming back - but not until all three are ready to go. It may be a bit longer until they're back online, but they're definitely coming back.

Actually, it's a lot more difficult than you think - in large part (as I understand it) due to the way they were set up on HC 2.0. Jive - the gift that just keeps on giving... ![]()
FWIW, I've been pushing hard for the HC reviews to be formatted and laid out as close to version 1.0 as possible when they're put back up.

This is tragic. Every day goes by and the User Reviews are missing, the more goodwill is lost among your dedicated readers.
My worry now is that, this site being increasngly driven by commercial dictates, the big manufacturers and distributors no longer wish to see adverse comments on current instruments and equipment; and since it is their bucks which are paying for the site, we are unlikely ever to have again the free, frank, sometimes haywire but always committed reviews which musicians - both amateur and professional - have taken time and effort to contribute. HC reviews were an amazing resource, limitless and inspiring and actually very helpful to designers of instruments and gear.
It begs the question - who's big enough to start a new site dedicated to free and unbiased reviews? The time has come, alas, because I doubt we'll be seeing them back at HC any time soon.
03-19-2013 09:39 AM
Still missing? Not surprised. Meanwhile, the mods and everyone else keep blaming it on the 'early shift'.

If I new anything about websites I'd create one for that.
