I've got a new LP copy (mahogany neck). Do you see the beige line between the neck and the binding? What is that? It's uneven on each side of the neck (goes from being very thin to a bit wider, to nothing).

Looks like stain that bled over onto the binding, IMHO.

Could be either one or a combination of both.

It's cost savings.

Stain bleeding into the clear coat.
It's no big deal, especially on a cheap guitar, it would be more of an issue if the guitar were high end $$.

Oh ok. This is a really nice guitar otherwise. So they're finish flaws, as opposed to some defect?

Yep, don't worry about it. It's only cosmetic.

I think it's a really safe bet that it is some sort of adhesive, i.e. glue. Don't worry about it. Play that guitar more. It's an awesome guitar. You are so lucky to have one!

So there is no reason or justification for sending it back, I take it.
LOL "mojo stripe".
Thanks for the input.

Only if it bugs the shit out of you. Wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but it wasn't my $$.
Fairly common issue; if you ever stained a guitar you've encountered it, probably.

It's a guitar so if you enjoy playing and it sounds good...
None of my guitars are "perfect" cosmetically but they all certainly work well for what I use them for.
My advice would be to not let the price you paid for the guitar interfere with the music you can make with it - don't dwell on the money, focus on the music.
