I've never missed the lack of board markers on my Parker.

I didn't even notice it lacked fret markers the first time I played mine. Don't miss them one bit either. Side markers are all you need IMO.

I've picked up guitars with no fret inlays before and expected it to be a problem, only to realize pretty quickly that I never look at them - I always use the dots on the edge of the fretboard.

Most of my guitars have inlays of some sort, but my main guitar has no inlays on the fretboard, only small side-markers. Generally it's not a problem. I had one time live where the lights pretty much blinded me at one point and I couldn't even see the side markers. I'm normally not even really looking when I'm playing that bit, so it was more the shock of being blinded causing me to look, only to then find I couldn't see a damn thing and my brain panicked a bit. So now I've cut some little strips of white tape to basically make the side markers huge, and I can feel them as I move up the neck too.

I had another guitar with one of those fancy vine inlays. That was a pain, coz there was a leafy flowery thing on the 13th fret. I'd look at it and my brain would assume it was the 12th even though I knew damn well it wasn't. :smileymad:

Side dots ftw. If you need inlays though try the stick-on ones and report back. I am curious about whether they get in the way or not.

Thanks for all the input gents.
