Agree with OP. A few regulars here remind me of old ladies looking at the weekly supermarket sale to save a few cents even though they really don't need to. The 'savings' part is what gives them a rush, not the actual item.

It's simple really. Customers are generally fucking idiots. And in my experience (roughly 15 years in retail in my life), when the THINK they are right about a pricing issue, they are WRONG about 98% of the time.

I will haggle in just about any major purchase, and I will sometimes walk away if nothing can be worked out, and I will sometimes not. I look at it this way: my money is my money, and no one else is going to be looking after my financial interests besides me. AFAIC, a price mutually agreed upon will leave both parties satisfied, the retailer knowing that, in all likelihood, I'll come back, and me feeling like I got a reasonable deal. That having been said, I wouldn't whine about a ridiculous price cut that I didn't get, although I've played hardball a couple of times with a local music shop (not a mom and pop shop) that grossly inflates some of its prices.

I'm so glad you are doing well honey, but know what my wife got for x-mas? About nothing. Thank god I spoiled her last years. Coupons are the only hope of a lot of people this year. I watched my best friends go from owningh a nice business to working at del taco. It happens. Hell I got screwed for 100k. It was nice to live well for a bit though.

I didn't see anyone here bitch about it, so I can name this specific deal but Sweetwater was closing out the Vox Night Train heads for $249 a pop. These things were going for $400+ new everywhere, and Vox had a $100 rebate going. So naturally, they didn't honor the rebates for those who bought it for $249, and now there are buyers saying shit like, "I'M NEVER BUYING A VOX PRODUCT AGAIN," ignoring that in the big picture, they bought a fucking Night Train for $249, which is a fucking good deal, and in what universe is a new Night Train worth $149, anyway? That's cheaper than a new Lil Night Train. Anyway, fucking entitled brats. Hate people like that.

I think you picked a really bad example. In the night train debacle, there was no haggling; people just want Vox and/or Sweetwater to live up to their end of the deal. I bought the NT from Sweetwater and downloaded the rebate from their website; there was no exclusion for instant rebates. I would not have bought the amp at a final price of $250; its that simple. If Vox doesn't honor the terms of the rebate, I expect to be able to return it. I don't think that's unreasonable.
