Man, I HATE this guy. He is SO annoying. First of all, not that it's important, but since he's a douche I'll mention it. The guy looks gross, what with that bandanna always at the peak of his forehead and that greasy looking hair slicked back underneath (not to mention the lack of any discernible jawline).
My real problem with him? He's always begging for free help from the youtubers. "Hey guys, would love if you could donate to X, or Y, or Z", "Hey guys go vote for my band Dorje on X Y Z Poll!", "Hey guys please go buy my EP on Itunes, help me get to 1000 EP's sold tonight!!". But after all of the support, he is super stingy paying it forward. He offered up skype lessons on facebook recently. Yes, lessons over skype (can you imagine how shitty that would be compared to actual lessons?) the price for his fans, who offered him all of his success? $100/hour!!
Lastly, the most annoying thing of all, he keeps coming out with those garbage guitars that he markets as some sort of high quality, high value, differentiated product. In reality, it's the same shit sold for under 400 dollars under a number of second tier brand names everywhere -- Les Paul type guitars with no carve on the top, only a paper thin veneer ("cap" they call it) for a top in the standard finishes you'll see on other $400 items. Hilariously enough, I saw a video where he was describing these guitars and said "they are being made in, arguably, the BEST guitar factory in the world right now, . . . in Korea." But besides all of his greed with his personal product and service offerings, there is one other thing. The anderton's product demos.
Have you ever seen him demo a product where he didn't suggest that the item sounded amazing, was an amazing price, an amazing value? Every single thing they demo is just the best, it's all the best. After watching maybe a hundred demos, I finally just accepted that the guy simply has a financial interest in the products because of his ties to his friend's retail chain in the United Kingdom -- he CAN'T provide honest feedback about the relative flaws of a product as compared to the items it competes with. At least other people who do Youtube demos are honest enough not to provide feedback when something is just average (like the ProGuitarShop guys).
Also, he doesn't know how to adjust/set tone on any pedals and his knowledge of anything that isn't fender or his own brand is severely limited. I've seen so many Anderton's videos where both guys are sitting there like retards speaking misinformation about various products, one nodding while the other looks around the shop to see if anyone nearby is wise to the fact that their statements are pulled out of their ass.
See this video if you want to see him manage to make one of the top delay pedals on the market sound like shit (WHAT THE FK is he trying to do with those settings?? just LOL @ his idea of what "slapback" sounds like):
