I have to put together a case on any company facing or that faced a tough business decision. Since I fuck around on guitar forums and websites and on the actual instrument I thought I'd do the whole Gibson having their rosewood siezed or what not.
Basically, if you have any links or insight into this case, I'd appreciate it. I've got some information already, mainly from Google, but I know how heated this got. Figured you guys would have some great info and opinions.

Can you search those old threads? While things got heated on that subject, lots of the arguing was pretty well researched. If you can find those posts, there were lots of links and news stories.
By the way, I've decided to come back. I haven't been here since the changeover. You know where the other choices are and I have tried them. They all suck in one way or another.

There are two great Vintage Guitar articles about the changes to the Lacey Act and the subsequent RELIEF act mean to clarify it (and protect instrument makers). Might want to dig them out. I think one was August (2011?) and had Randy Rhoads on the cover. Not sure which issue the other one was.

I found a article that seems to be a good, "plain english" version of the story, and it includes the comments of George Gruhn, about the effect of all this on the import/export of vintage guitars:
I'm no Gibson expert, so does anyone else recognize the fretboard inlays on the necks in evidence, in the photo from the above article. I have no idea which model Gibson that it for.
And here's a NY Times artcle on the subject:
