NGD But Should I send it back?

So I just got a new Gibson es-335. I have two cosmetic issues with the guitar and I am wondering if I should send it back for another one. I have a picture of the first issue below:

The second issue is on the back and it looks like a small bit of stain was misapplied. Would you send the guitar back for another one?

Thanks

Re: NGD But Should I send it back?

The picture you have is just hardware that can easily be replaced. But still, with something new, you shouldn't have to replace anything. Plus, with the mess up in the finish I say return it for another.
Guitars: Harmony H45, Epiphone Dot Deluxe, Fender Mustang, Gibson MM Special, Gibson B25, Teisco Mayqueen
Amps: Vox AC4, Vox AC15, Harmony H205, Silvertone 1430, Gibson G10

Re: NGD But Should I send it back?

Unless you absolutely LOVE it, send it back...That's a damn expensive guitar to be unhappy with and if someone comes along and says you're nitpicking, they've obviously never spent in excess of $2000 on a guitar.

As yourself these questions:

Does it play well?

Does it sound good?

Is there a reason it's important that it be cosmetically perfect?

Is the guitar to be used for playing music or appreciated as a piece of furniture?

Would you ever pay extra for a deliberately "reliced" guitar?

HNGD! Whats the issue pictured? Is it just a little discoloration on the bridge? If so, will a little polish help?
Since Dylan went electric, man things just ain't been the same; now DJs are making records, could you please just be ashamed? -- Two Cow Garage

Yes, I can actually play: Falstaff

I do agree with the above sentiments...the bottom line-if you love it and you think the flaws are no big deal, then by all means keep it. If not, you should definitely return it. But even if the flaws are easily remedied, I'd still recommend contacting the retailer-they may refund a portion of the selling price as reimbursement for repairs(or for selling you a scratched-n-dented guitar).

The guitar will definitely be played. My only concern is that by paying this much for the guitar I just thought these types of things would have been caught.

It is 1963 RI Es-335. I have spent 1/10th of the price on guitars and noticed any issues like this. However, I just wonder if some of this is part of the "handmade" process.

The guitar plays well. The intonation is off but I suppose that is because it was shipped.

The bridge is probably covered under warranty and could be replaced by a Gibson service center.

Re: NGD But Should I send it back?

Send it back. MF will put it on their scratch and dent list and I will buy it for a nice discount. Then I will replace all of the gold hardware for nickel, the way God intended it to be in the first place.
